COVID is everywhere. I was just informed that one of our upcoming events presenter tested positive. Take good care, everyone. Test if you have symptoms and stay home if positive.
I'm so proud that we received this meaningful proclamation yesterday. VLACC has been working hard to get a dedicated space for our art & culture in Vancouver. We got this proclamation from the city, which motivates us to continue our efforts to establish our own Cultural Centre.
Delighted to join my colleagues, community leaders and consular representatives in proclaiming Latin American Heritage Month in @CityofVancouver! Our city and its culture is enriched by the many contributions of our Latin American diaspora.

I know this pandemic is frustrating. It’s frustrating that, after two years, we’re not done fighting COVID-19. But over the past few days, Canadians have been shocked – and, frankly, disgusted – by the behaviour displayed by some people protesting in our nation’s capital.
“[This report] is a code red for humanity. The alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable: greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel burning and deforestation are choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk.” https://t.co/qyzQCZ2LHu
Not sure if it’s conscious or not but it’s striking how much the right-wing vaccine rhetoric borrows from abortion rights rhetoric: choice, privacy, a decision between a patient and doctor, none of the government’s business, etc
“When the Portuguese and the Spanish arrived in America, who did they meet? They met themselves. They met Homo sapiens that had arrived 19,000 years before them. When I walk inside this land, I am walking inside my human community.” Sebastião Salgado https://t.co/tj9gEAkQjZ
Over the past year, we’ve seen an increase in acts of racism against Asian Canadians. This ignorant, violent, and discriminatory behaviour has no place in Canada - or anywhere in the world. We must continue to stand united against it.
