These mountain people are some of the kindest and toughest people. They will survive. I have been packing supplies in on horseback and I had the opportunity to visit an elderly lady. She didn’t have a road out, no electricity and no running water. She was very quick to inform me that she had a spring in the woods. She refused to take any items I had in pack saddles telling me to give it to someone worse off. Then she looked at me and said “young man I have dinner about ready, would you like something to eat.” Even when she had lost a lot she still wanted to share what she had. Makes me proud to be one of these “hillbillies.”
