@IndieTheology Who is cutting off parents from their children? Don't put it in vague passive tense, you coward. It's the children cutting off their own parents because they are being abusive.
@fionawoods46 @IndieTheology What he means is that they probably would have been browbeaten into heteronormativity and breeding if they lived to adulthood.
@Prof_RBW Well if you define “sin” as something like admitting publicly that you love people of the same sex, then I guess it makes sense that the admission is the “trespass,” not the behavior.
@AngHerrington Am I actually asexual or did my experience trying to shoehorn myself into cisheteronormativity traumatize me too much to enjoy any type of sexual relationship?
@KyleLlo75976623 @Bec_Shrader @jackmjenkins Churches are automatically classified as charities—with none of the accountability requirements for other charities—which means donations to them are tax deductible. Contributions to political groups are NOT tax deductible. Big difference.
@feelingual @ladyEveyWinters I’m enby too and I feel highly traumatized by my body frequently gushing blood which I can’t stop or control. It’s not gender essentialism—it’s just a bloody mess and pain, and I don’t understand how cis women find this tolerable or empowering, or maybe they don’t.
@tonyannett I’ve seen the terms “solidarity, the common good, and integral human development” used many times to invalidate actual human diversity and promote the bankrupt idea of “separate but equal.” So no, these are not useful substitutes for DEI at all.
@Prof_RBW @jeffchu @missfloratang I would give anything to have replacement parents, but a person has to EARN that place in my life, and I get to decide when that’s happened.
@JollyJoeLalli@epicciuto@jbarro “Survival” of a legal relationship that is obviously making everyone involved miserable is a strange benchmark for what’s “not a problem.”
That’s the point of the article: the author wants to “normalize” her own misery and sane folk say, “no, that IS a problem.”
@ThomasReeseSJ Conservatives don’t care what their children think or feel. They think it’s their job and right to TELL their kids what to believe and to ignore any inclinations or evidence to the contrary.
@chavalehforgey @DrAlexGWright @walkerelijahm@elijahwalker Definitely, I’m mad about it too. When the Our Lady of Guadalupe v. Morrissey-Berru decision came down, I was so distressed I wanted to pen a law review article about it, even though I have nothing to do with legal academy. Law school grads know how masochistic that is…
@chavalehforgey @DrAlexGWright @walkerelijahm@elijahwalker Gotta wait until the majority of SCOTUS is more interested in protecting individual rights than institutional prerogatives.
