Journalists’ choices shape perceptions, so they should choose accurate words. They shouldn’t use the fuzzy, manipulating, emotional approach of much successful campaign rhetoric.

But cries of “what about the National!!” wage a successful war of attrition against non-MAGA CT Rs, to the gain of Ds in some places- benefit of MAGA Rs in some others. This against Rs is just another narrative that makes folks’ outrage feel good and fear feel seen. And sometimes wins elections.

CT Rs can’t be held responsible for MTG, Gaetz, etc.
