Pastor Adeboye Did Not Protest Against President Jonathanโs Government, He Only Participated in a Prayer Walk โ RCCG Debunks Claims
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed as false claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, once protested against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to the church, a viral photograph showing Pastor Adeboye holding a placard during a public walk has been repeatedly misrepresented online as evidence of a protest against Jonathanโs government.
RCCG clarified that the image was taken during a peaceful nationwide walk organized under the directive of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The exercise was aimed at drawing attention to the k+lling of Christians and other innocent Nigerians and urging authorities to improve security.
The church explained that Pastor Adeboyeโs participation in the walk in Ebute Metta, Lagos, had no connection to the Jonathan administration and was not a political protest.
RCCG further stated that Pastor Adeboyeโs message at the event emphasized the value of every human life and called for the protection of both Christians and Muslims.
The church also noted that while Pastor Adeboye is a spiritual leader and not a government official, he has not remained silent on national issues. During the November 2025 Holy Ghost Service, he reportedly advised the Federal Government to take stronger action against insecurity and urged authorities to deal with both terr%rists and their sponsors.
RCCG reiterated that Pastor Adeboye does not hold political office, that the church is not affiliated with any political party, and that neither he nor the church should be blamed for the nationโs current challenges.
The church urged the public to verify information through its official channels before sharing claims about Pastor Adeboye, stressing the importance of facts, context, and accuracy.
