What the fuck are you afraid of?
Death?
We’re all gonna die.
Bankruptcy?
You can make it all back.
Shame?
Everyone will forget in a week.
What the fuck are you afraid of?
There is nothing to fear.
The moments that change your life are the moments that push you to the edge.
The moments where you find out what you’re made of and how hard you can truly work.
My favorite Charlie Munger story:
In 1953, Munger was 29 years old.
Recently divorced. Lost the house. Huge social stigma of divorce back then.
His 8-year-old son, Teddy, was diagnosed with cancer.
The leukemia was incurable.
No medical insurance - Munger paid for all his medical care.
Charlie would visit Teddy in the hospital every day -- and then walk the streets crying.
Teddy died at the age of 9.
Charlie was broke, divorced and just lost his child.
99.9% of people would've turned to alcohol, drugs, or suicide. (And you'd understand why)
Munger never did.
Fast forward to 52 years old, a failed surgery left him blind in one eye with the potential of going fully blind one day.
Charlie was an obsessive learner who read every book he could get his hands on.
When confronted with the possibility of going blind and no longer being able to read he said:
"It's time for me to learn braille!"
The only thing that might be more impressive than his intellect was his actions.
RIP.

Munger on Self-Pity:
"Generally speaking, envy, resentment, revenge, and self-pity are disastrous modes of thought.
Self-pity gets pretty close to paranoia…
Every time you find your drifting into self-pity, I don’t care what the cause, your child could be dying from cancer, self-pity is not going to improve the situation. It’s a ridiculous way to behave.
Life will have terrible blows, horrible blows, unfair blows, it doesn’t matter. Some people recover and others don’t.
There I think the attitude of Epictetus is the best. He thought that every mischance in life was an opportunity to behave well. Every mischance in life was an opportunity to learn something and that your duty was not to be immersed in self-pity, but to utilize the terrible blow in a constructive fashion. That is a very good idea."
These flamingos are feeding their chick a type of milk called crop milk
both parents have special cells to produce milk in their crop (part of their throat)
red, because it’s densely packed with dietary carotenoids
There are two types of stress:
1. Good stress (Eustress)
2. Bad stress (Distress)
- Eustress is natural, healthy, and beneficial.
It energizes you, motivating you to complete tasks.
When the task is done, the stress goes away, and your nervous system returns to a calm state.
Imagine wanting to ask someone out.
Your heart races, and you feel a rush of energy, motivating you to take the first step.
- Distress happens when you feel overwhelmed or unable to handle a situation,
like heavy work or personal issues, like relationships, money, or unresolved mental health issues.
However,
whether something is good or bad stress can vary from person to person.
Asking someone out is exciting for some but frightening for others.
The good new is,
It's possible to turn bad stress into good stress and use it to improve performance and reduce anxiety.
Here are 2 things you can do...
1. Change your perspective:
Your body reacts strongly to perceived threats.
Most of the things we fear are actually opportunities to learn and grow.
By viewing something as a challenge rather than a threat, the fear you usually feel can transform into excitement, and determination.
2. Take action:
One of the main reasons that your stress turns into anxiety is that there are things you need to do and you're not doing them.
Simple tasks accumulate and become overwhelming.
To fix this, the most important strategy is to get going.
Accomplish things, stay fit, help others, and do things that are fun and healthy, even when you don't feel like it.
Stress can be a catalyst for personal growth and success.
The things that may seem stressful are those that lead to your most significant achievements.
Embrace them as challenges and take action for a happier and more successful life.
