Xi Jinping is having his own defcon 1 moment having arrested the top general of the PLA. General Zhang Youxia is a legit Chinese war hero & has ties at the highest levels of CCP, some would regard him as equal to Xi Jinping. He apparently escaped with help from PLA loyalists.
