@kirishimas_nose This is Keith Haring’s final painting “Unfinished Painting,” left intentionally to appear incomplete as Haring was dying of complications from AIDS and knew he didn’t have much time left. The piece represents his and all the many incomplete lives lost to AIDS during the crisis.
Amidst its overarching themes of monstrosity and what it means to be human, The Summer Hikaru Died drawing similarities between being closeted in a generally intolerant rural town and feeling like a monster walking amongst your peers is something so incredibly profound.
