They don’t want to be refugees.
They’re fleeing because their home is no longer safe.
We left abruptly knowing it would come to this.
Knowing that Afghans would die, women would become oppressed once again, children would lose their childhoods, & millions would be displaced.
What I’ve seen in Afghanistan in the last 72 hrs that I can’t unsee:
• men clinging onto an airplane to escape, & falling to their deaths
• kids passed off over barbed wire walls to military officials so they can survive
• BRAVE Afghan women protesting & dressed for battle‼️
Volunteers needed! Need help with services like airport pick-ups, apartment set-ups, or bringing a meal, pls share info with those who can help our Afghan allies arriving in: DC/MD/VA, Seattle/Tacoma, Houston and Fort Worth/Dallas areas. #afghanistan https://t.co/VrFuCKZdJz
40 yrs ago a man, his wife, & two infant daughters fled Afghanistan fearing their safety, w/only the clothes on their back. That man is my father.
They were able to get on that plane, where hundreds of thousands of Afghans can’t today. Please open your hearts & borders to them.
If you’re any of the following:
• a human
• a woman, and/or an advocate of women’s rights
• against child rape & 12 yr old brides
• advocate of freedom & civil rights
Then what’s happening in Afghanistan should be your concern. #afghanistanisbleeding
Shout-out to all the immigrant moms who have been carrying generations of trauma & pain, but still managed to give us every ounce of love they had — while being the backbone of the entire family. You left everything you knew & loved to give us a chance at a better life.
Here’s my birthday gift to myself:
• unconditional self-love
• cutting out people pleasing,
seeking external validation, &
taking things personal
• creating boundaries
• forgiveness for myself & others
• doing everything in life “with ease”
Imagine if you took the same energy you’ve spent on overthinking every decision, regretting past choices, and worrying about what others think of you and put it towards self-love... you’d be making miracles happen ✨
Shout out to all the ethnic moms that used empty jiffy peanut butter bottles & yogurt containers to store all the leftovers and condiments.
Thank you for igniting our trust issues by reminding us that what you see, is not always what you get... lol!

So I usually don’t post this kind of stuff but yesterday I got inspired by @linanoory . People look at these images on Instagram and start thinking that people have the most glamorous and perfect lives. You don’t… https://t.co/1MUnZCALFD
"When you create a problem, you create pain. All it takes is a simple choice, a simple decision: No matter what happens, I will create no more pain for myself. I will create no more problems." - Eckhart Tolle
I recently learned that your mind will do anything to validate what you believe about yourself. It will even distort your past in order to support that belief.
Be mindful of how you talk to yourself. Choose self-love every single day.
Shoutout to all the immigrant fathers who took the first step towards breaking the cycle of generational pain... By leaving your native countries you’ve not only given us an opportunity at a better life, but you’ve paved the way for us to heal ourselves for future generations.
