Important information!
To all our esteemed Local Government leaders -Chairpersons LC V, City Mayors, Division Mayors, Town Council Mayors, and Sub-County Chiefs:
I wish to share the guidance I received from the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Adviser on Special Operations, General @mkainerugaba , on the importance of naming all our streets and roads in our Cities, Divisions, Municipalities, Town Councils, and other urban areas.
Proper naming of streets and roads will greatly assist in easy location, emergency response, security operations, service delivery, urban planning, investment, and other important national operations.
You are therefore directed to ensure that all streets and roads within your areas of jurisdiction are officially named by 30th August 2026.
In this important exercise, Local Governments should consider honouring distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to Uganda, Africa, and humanity, including:
• Traditional rulers and cultural leaders
• Kings and eminent historical figures
• NRA liberation and resistance heroes
• UPDF heroes and distinguished national servants
• Former Presidents and national leaders
• Outstanding Ugandans in public service, education, science, business, sports, arts, culture, and community development.
All Local Governments should submit the approved list of names and Council resolutions to the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, and ensure that the respective street name signs are installed before 5th September 2026.
Finally, let us continue keeping our Cities, Municipalities, Town Councils, and communities clean. A clean environment reflects good leadership, effective service delivery, and respect for our citizens.
Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi
Hon. Minister of Local Government
🚨 Minister Balaam Barugahara has set a firm deadline: all districts must fill over 800 vacant positions by August 30th.
AHe's cracking down on officials who were deliberately leaving jobs open to hand them to their relatives.
Finally, someone saying enough with the nepotism in local government. Merit should come first.
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has introduced an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) platform for containerized cargo destined for Kenyan ports, effective 3rd August 2026.
Exporters and clearing agents handling Kenya-bound consignments will need to secure an ACD reference code via https://t.co/a5b9zcQyQu prior to loading, supported by the Draft Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Freight Invoice, and Export Declaration.
SSFFA advises members transiting cargo through Kenyan ports to begin familiarizing themselves with this process ahead of the rollout date to avoid clearance delays.
Hon @BalaamBarugahar: The only way you can stop me from the inspections is by amending the law to say that a Minister must sit in office and take tea.

The regime that wants to have a $ 500 billion economy within 10 years has somehow failed to fix the traffic lights at Kiira Road Police junction since JANUARY - it’s now JULY! 🙌🏾
The first thing a blind man does when he can see is throw away the walking stick that helped him get there.
Be careful who you bring close to you. Some people forget the hands that carried them the moment they no longer need the help.
Mr. @CHRISBARYOMUNS1, your foolishness doesn’t just behoove me, it deserves a national monument. Remember Kanungu? You collapsed in your own constituency like a poorly parked trailer. They tried rushing you into the local hospital, but your legendary distended stomach filed a separate application for entry and still couldn’t fit through the door.
The building took one look at that presidential-sized belly and said, “Not today.” So they airlifted the whole circus, you, your stomach, and whatever dignity you had left, first to Kampala, then all the way to Nairobi—in another country.
Yet here you are today, clutching your pearls in horror at the filth in Mbarara Hospital. Mr. Bigoddo, we watched you waddle through that same muck like a hippo on a spa day, your belly arriving in every room three full seconds before the rest of you. The audacity of these nincompoops is truly world-class.
First they came for Anita Among everyone said they just want her out now they came for those in local governments everyone is shouting that they should do it behind cameras, lwaki temwagala balabisse babbi?
Are you still dreaming about ELECTION in December. Only two options left for President Kiir; Extend the RARCISS again with the inclusion of Dr. Riek group and most likely the rest of the World will have the buy-in or stage an OPEN COUP and overthrow the RTGONU government. The World will definitely abandon South Sudan.
The choice is with President Kiir but time is running out!

Parliament should summon the Minister of Defense, Interior and National Security on the alarming issue of citizens getting robbed at gun point in Juba. These are very serious matters especially when the major streets or roads are unsafe for the ordinary citizens. The allegations that these people introduce themselves as Security personnel and later they robbed people of their valuables. This is so scary and requires urgent intervention and actions from responsible authorities.

Most civil servants had normalised corruption at local government level
The"shock waves" being sent by @BalaamBarugahar and @JustineNameere must be supported by Ugandans.
Due process? these people pay their way.
Thanks @mkainerugaba and @KagutaMuseveni for appointing them.
How many of you think that the minister @BalaamBarugahar and @JustineNameere should follow process and not continue this corruption train they have started?
With all due respect, I disagree. Former MPs served, earned salaries, received allowances, and had access to opportunities that many ordinary Ugandans can only dream of. During their time in office, they should have planned for life after Parliament by saving, investing and building sustainable sources of income.
This should also serve as a lesson to current MPs. Stop treating a parliamentary seat as a lifetime guarantee of luxury. Many abandon the simple lives they once lived, rush into extravagant lifestyles, borrow heavily to impress the public, and later find themselves drowning in debt.
Live within your means. Save and invest your income. Continue living as an ordinary citizen. Eat where you have always eaten, live in the homes you already own, and prepare for the day you leave office.
Uganda has far more urgent challenges to address than creating special retirement privileges for people who were already well compensated for their service. Public office is temporary, and financial responsibility is a personal obligation not a burden that should later be transferred to taxpayers.
With how the South Africans treated our fellow Ugandans in South Africa why is this stadium still named after their freedom fighter when they didn’t show any freedom to their fellow Africans. We need to change the name atleast and atleast we call it Muhoozi national stadium 😅🌝

To some brothers of mine who are not bothered by what is going on in our local governments and cities, this is a “pit latrine” with out a pit that cost taxpayers UGX 73 million. Is this the Uganda we want? This is unacceptable.
My brother Simon and others on x , this is exactly why the #ExposeTheCorrupt campaign must continue. No one will stop this train. There are still a few hours and days left for repentance.
When you steal public funds, you will be exposed publicly. If you hate humiliation, don’t tamper with or misuse public resources. Every shilling belongs to the people and must be used for its intended purpose. Let us improve our public infrastructure, strengthen service delivery, and restore accountability in local government.
I sincerely thank the DISOs of Mbale and Bulambuli, the CID officers, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the DPC Mbale, RPC Twalla, the DPC Bulambuli, the outgoing Deputy RDC of Bulambuli, the RDC of Mbale District, and all patriotic Ugandans led by our General Secretary, Hon. Twalla Fadhil, together with all the Area Members of Parliament for Mbale and Bulambuli, who have supported the #ExposeTheCorrupt campaign so far.
I also appeal to all staff in the Office of the President, ISO, Crime Intelligence officers, RDCs, and every patriotic Ugandan to join and support the #ExposeTheCorrupt movement. Together, let us protect taxpayers’ money, improve public infrastructure, and deliver the quality services our people deserve.
If the Source of the Nile was in Kigali, every road leading to it would probably be tarmacked by now.
Instead, the world’s longest river begins in Jinja, Uganda, yet tourists who follow the Nile from Egypt to its source are welcomed by roads that don’t reflect the global significance of the destination.
We keep talking about unlocking tourism, but infrastructure is tourism.
I sometimes wonder if government truly understands how much Jinja contributes to Uganda’s economy. The Source of the Nile is not just a local attraction it’s a global landmark. It deserves world-class access.
We cannot market a world-class destination with third-world infrastructure.
