We knew there was more lending in white areas of Chicago, but the sheer scale of the disparity is shocking. When you hear about disinvestment, this is what people mean. https://t.co/rLUatMMZwa Your weekend #longreads & #listen
Congratulations @laurenchooljian@ajmacadam & team @nhpr for the honor of being a finalist for the @PulitzerPrizes in Audio. The 13th Step Podcast is one of the best examples of audio investigative journalism & persistence in the face of harassment. https://t.co/D5LWHsZYJe
Small but MIGHTY @invinst wins not one but TWO Pulitzers today! SO WELL DESERVED for this amazing audio story @YohanceLacour@chicagoan @sarahegeis @_erisaja and everyone involved!
@pksmid @WBEZ Heartbreaking on every level for public media, audio reporting, and culture in Chicago. Hard to fathom that this level of talent is being let go.
Horrible for Chicago, public media, local reporting, democracy, and all of my uber-talented former colleagues-- those staying and the 14 being laid off.
@shannon_h @scarletfaguette @YohanceLacour Thank you! ๐กโค๏ธ๐๏ธCredit to all the longtime Pilsen residents creating and expanding the Pilsen Housing Cooperative so more people can STAY in Pilsen! https://t.co/XXSZCcpxph
AND... @MUOBrien has lined up two fabulous journo students to work on this project -- I can't wait to see what we dig up, Hope Moses and Kevin Fitzpatrick!
Professional News: After spending my "DIY sabbatical" working with the Pilsen Housing Cooperative, I'm ready to write about this and other community efforts to resist displacement caused by gentrification. Very honored to be part of this fabulous cohort๐at @MarquetteU

I want to say this. Pay for your news. Support public radio. Subscribe to the NYT and others. Journalism matters. Itโs been bartered and discredited by those who stand to benefit. But everyone has the power to change that.
@avcsays Yay!! This is such terrific news for WBEZ listeners and for reporters/ producers! You're a great audio editor and a caring, thoughtful manager. That's an awesome recipe for powerful work! Congrats Ariel and @WBEZ ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐
Sad news. Barbara Ehrenreich, my one and only mother, died on September 1, a few days after her 81st birthday. She was, she made clear, ready to go. She was never much for thoughts and prayers, but you can honor her memory by loving one another, and by fighting like hell.
