It’s wild how the DA claims to be “creating jobs” and “changing lives,” while they’ve actively opposed Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), the very policy meant to undo decades of systematic exclusion.

Let’s talk facts:

The DA has consistently spoken out against BBBEE, calling it “race-based” and “divisive,” while refusing to offer any serious alternative to address generational economic exclusion caused by apartheid.

Under the DA, Cape Town remains the most unequal city in SA, with huge racial wealth gaps. Who’s benefiting from their reforms? It’s certainly not the majority of young black and coloured South Africans stuck in poverty.

John Steenhuisen, you said the DA would scrap BBBEE entirely if they came to national power. That’s not transformation — that’s preserving old privilege.

You love shouting about corruption elsewhere, but let’s not forget about scandals under their watch — like Clover in the Western Cape, or the MyCiTi bus tender fiasco.

DA governance = “clean audits” for optics, but what’s a clean audit when communities are still battling with spatial apartheid, underfunded schools, and lack of access to real economic power?

So no — opposing BEE isn’t “nonracialism,” it’s just protecting privilege under a new marketing strategy.

Let’s deal with facts, not feelings:

There was no war against white South Africans. What actually happened was the end of a system—apartheid—where a white minority oppressed the black majority for decades through violence, land dispossession, and exploitation.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was created to prevent revenge and build a democratic country. The vast majority of black South Africans chose forgiveness over revenge despite the horrors they suffered.

Where were the “we’re hated” complaints when white South Africans benefited from land theft, job reservation, Bantu education, and forced removals?

Today, white South Africans still hold disproportionate wealth, land, and privilege—in a country where the majority are still living with the legacy of that oppression.

Nobody hates you for being white—people get angry at injustice, denialism, and entitlement.

If you love South Africa, stay and build with integrity. If you want to run because you don’t want to give up privilege, just say that. But don’t rewrite history to make the oppressor look like the victim. We’re not doing that.

This argument is embarrassing. Every time black DA leaders leave and speak out about racism and white supremacy in the party, suddenly the excuse is “lack of experience” or “The Peter Principle.”

Where was that talk when John Steenhuisen, who only has a matric, was handed top leadership roles? Make it make sense. Black leaders are expected to prove themselves ten times over, while mediocre white men get leadership positions handed to them.

Lindiwe Mazibuko, Phumzile van Damme, Mbali Ntuli didn’t leave because they were “untested”—they left because they were undermined, gaslit, and expected to keep quiet about racism in the DA.

This is not about “experience,” it’s about a party that protects white mediocrity and fears black excellence.

If the DA truly cared about qualifications, John wouldn’t be leading. Period.
