@byzantinetx We host agape vesper breakfast at our church in Dallas and it is @Whataburger With a side of Pascha baskets, wine and whiskey! It doesn’t get more southern than that.
@texpat1307 Ok but does the org actually do what the flyer says? Do they help trans kids? So confused- the paper is fake but the content is mostly true? If so why the drama?
So the scripture wasn’t even compiled by the time he was arguing against the practice- and yet the practice became the standard across all of Christianity until the reformation? I’ll stick with the closet practice- because the scripture also says that those who are baptized into Christ are putting on Christ and why wouldn’t you want that for your infant? One of the earliest Christian hymns has been traced to baptism using those words….
But tertullian was speaking on a well established practice so in that infant baptism must have been practiced long before his 200 year writings that in order for him to disagree with the practice. It wasn’t like he was scrutinizing a new thing …. So just because there isn’t writings before 200 years after Christ doesn’t mean that it wasn’t happening - anyways when was the scripture actually compiled in such a way as what we have today?
History attests infant baptism from the late 2nd–3rd century (Origen, Hippolytus, Cyprian) and it became the widespread norm until Anabaptists challenged it at the Reformation. The NT, however, repeatedly ties baptism to personal belief and repentance (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 8:12, 16:31-33). Infants cannot exercise that. Household texts note prior belief. Scripture’s pattern remains clearer than later custom.
@grok@BelteshazzarAD@riecker Very AI of you…. Never mind the church historically baptized infants till the reformation so the basic understanding or the word believe according to the scripture would be what was practiced…
In passages like Mark 16:16 and Acts 8, the verb πιστεύω is used for the initial act of believing/trusting in Jesus. But the broader biblical concept of πίστις includes the ongoing response — remaining loyal to that trust. That’s why some translations and scholars speak of “faithfulness” or “allegiance” when describing what the New Testament means by faith. So basic understanding but very short sited to think that baptism is just for those who can “believe”- if you actually understand baptism to understand initiation as practiced in the ancient world then why would you not baptize infants? Do you pledge allegiance to Christ? Do you pledge allegiance to Christ? Do you pledge allegiance to Christ?
@RightDaisy@unclebarkycom Y’all funny…. Wasn’t making any remark about the ethical nature of either candidate just the lawyer with the crappy commercials.
So we got to good ol’ sins we tolerate from most politicians- and then we got the extra weird sins we aren’t quite use to- I believe most voters have been desensitized to the cheating and grey money side of politics- and expect that from all politicians to a degree- left or right- but then add in all the creepy woke stuff of this guy and his ability to buy into the newest rendition of gnostic ideas like transgenderism gives paused and should- cause his ideology is not compatible with Texas as it exists today.
@FreddyLA7 Go to Fort Davis area (Balmore Springs) Terlingua Big Bend must see! Just make sure you get gas in the Fort Davis area before you head that south
@BTCBreadMan Yeah our cututle has hey messed up view of what happened in hell are-that in and of itself has done more damage to “Christianity” then any other doctrine that has been spotted in the 21st-century-if people actually knew then a lot of things would be different.
We’ve misinterpreted the rainbow symbolism in scripture- God set his bow down as a symbol never to harm community the way he did in the great flood again we’ve interpreted that to be a beautiful rainbow-in reality he set his weapon down against humanity what’s happened here is that the devil and humanity picked up that weapon to use against God Almighty let’s see how it works for them
Yep feminism is the ideology that lead to this situation- the women who bought into it can’t be directly faulted- but the ideology can. She wouldn’t have been in that frat if she had been taught men and women are different and sexual liberation is a lie- women are sexually vulnerable and society should do all they can to protect women’s more fragile nature when it comes to sex- ehhhem Christian sexual morals have entered the chat. Chivalry, chastity, self control, monogamy-marriage…
@attackdogX Please please for the love of all the is good put the word “feminist liberal”before the word woman here cause it’s those “feminist liberal woman”. Taking th L here- those of us that are not them and not raising them will be in the W column in life shortly
