Layoffs made all the headlines Q3/4 of 2022 and Q1/2 of 2023.
But during this time, companies have also been conducting "silent layoffs".
They come in many forms, including but not limited to:
• PIPs: once you get PIPed, you're marked.
• RTO: People hired remotely during 2020-2022, only to get called to work onsite (even if they live in another state)
• RTO to another location: People hired on a hybrid basis for one location, but told they now have to report into another one
• And more...
Essentially, companies are trying to get you to resign to avoid bad press and paying severance packages to everyone.
Whether you agree with it or not, it is what it is.
So take this as your sign to start building out that network, updating that linkedin, and updating that resume.
I’m gonna say it again: we are hugely lacking play-spaces open all hours of the week with spaces for parents to work. A play-space with wifi, tables, coffee, and a large window into a gym with counselors. I would pay a lot for this. Drop in, they play, you work and socialize.
