Number of asylum seekers living in non hotel accommodation hits 73,000

73,068 people who arrived seeking asylum are now housed in flats houses and other properties rather than hotels a 3 per cent rise on last year

Hotel numbers have fallen to 16,021 the lowest since 2022 after a 50 per cent drop from the 2023 peak

The shift means tens of thousands more asylum seekers are living in communities across the country instead of hotels while the overall caseload remains high
