So true. So many things in Azerbaijani make sense to me only because I know Russian. Otherwise I'd be totally lost with my Turkish 😁

Post-Soviet countries often simply translate the Russian национальность and национальный as ‘nationality’ and ‘national’, which sound rather odd to the Anglophone or Western audience unaware of the complexity of these words in Soviet culture. 1/4
