Illinois just became the first state in the U.S. to outlaw book bans, after Gov. Pritzker signed legislation that would cut off state funding for any Illinois library that tries to ban books.
Pritzker: "Regimes ban books, not democracies."
BREAKING: An unhinged conservative husband and wife interrupt an elementary school track-and-field meet, accuse a 9-year old girl with short hair of being a boy, and demand that the young girl produce her birth certificate in the middle of the race or be disqualified.
But it gets worse…
After the bigoted couple was asked to leave, the wife began accusing the young girl’s lesbian mothers of being “groomers,” “pedophiles,” and “genital mutilators” in front of everyone — causing the traumatized young girl to break down sobbing in tears and shaking.
They refused to leave, and eventually the police had to be called in.
One of the young girl’s mothers filed a report with the local police about the incident, declaring that, “This is absolutely a hate crime. It is a direct result of this right-wing propaganda that has become so rampant in our media.”
In response to the incident, the Central Okanagan School District says that “the persons who accosted the student and family were not from one of our Central Okanagan Public Schools. In response, the District has worked with other local schools to identify the persons and we are taking steps to formally ban them from any District property or events.“
Please retweet and ❤️ if you think that the bigoted couple MUST be arrested immediately and charged with a hate crime — and consider joining and investing in Tribel, a “woke” new bigotry-free Twitter competitor that is currently doing a round of equity crowdfunding and just blew past $1 million raised from 2,500 of its users. What I always hear: “We can’t afford to pay our workers $15 an hour.”
What I never hear: “We can’t afford to pay our CEO millions of dollars a year.”
Funny how that works.
there's an incredible story going on in the mountaineering community rn. there's a Malaysian climber who was at death's door, and was rescued by a sherpa who risked his own life to carry his lifeless body on his back for 6 hours. The climber then blocked the sherpa on Instagram

If pride stuff being on shelves offends you because you don't "believe in pride," then we should take away Christmas stuff because I don't believe in Christmas. Don't like the sound of that? Well then. Mind you own damn business.
Black Family in Renton Demands Reparations From Renton School District: Part 1
The Houston family in Renton is demanding reparations from the Renton School District following what they claim were threats of seizures and subsequent manipulation of their family’s 10-acre farm and home in 1968.
“They said ‘We want your property. We can force you to sell it, you know,” is how James Houston retells the story of his families land being purchased by the Renton School District under the threat of eminent domain.
That year, their land and 10 additional acres belonging to two other families, were purchased by the school district below market value. The Renton School District, which paid a total of $92,000 for the 20 acres, claimed they planned to use the land to build a new school. However, that project never happened.
“My mom and dad didn't know what that meant. They, you know, they didn’t know anything…seventh-grade education – mom; third-grade education for dad.”
Twelve years later, in 1980, the district sold the 20 acres of land to developers for nearly $187,000 – more than double what it had paid. The houses that now occupy the land have contributed tax dollars to the school district and the city over decades.
Now, the family seeks reparations for the generational wealth that they claim was stolen from them. That land, which was supposed to be passed down from generation to generation, sits as a reminder to the Houston family of the racial tensions which still have not faded decades later.

Coming tomorrow: A Black Family Seeks Reparations from the Renton School District
This two-part series will tell the story of the Houston family, whose land was purchased by the Renton School District using threats of eminent domain in 1968, supposedly to build a new school. The school was never built, so the school district sold the land 12 years later at a great profit, and it has made millions in tax dollars since then. The family, which once lived on the land and relied on it for food and income, lost the potential of generational wealth.
Reported by Cesar Canizales, the story goes in depth on the injustices committed against the family and their fight to regain even a bit of what they lost. Make sure to keep an eye out tomorrow morning for more.
Elon changed the Twitter algorithm so we could all
be exposed to the maga peeps more regularly (and I guess be persuaded).
So having been exposed to them more regularly for a few months now, one thing really sticks out:
My God, these people are fucking stupid.
They tell us “we don’t want these books in school libraries” and “people can get them at public libraries”
Then it’s “we don’t want them in public libraries” and “people can get them at book stores”
Now they are going after the book stores
Funny thing about this photo
The photographer said ‘you’re sitting like a man, maybe change your leg position’
I smiled and said ‘no, this is how I like to sit, that’s the whole point of the article’

Tennessee is attempting to use eminent domain to take land that has been in Black families for generations so Ford can build electric vehicles. The families just want a fair deal.
