@Heizeuss Bruh these are in threads talking this exact issue. It's not like I'm seeking out people enjoying something and shitting on them 😂. I'm just having conversations with people about gaming and they get upset that my opinion isn't the same as theirs.
@Heizeuss Huh? no? People can enjoy what they want but I've been straight blocked by Nintendo fans for simply saying the negative things they've done in my eyes. Enjoy what you like but being upset because someone called out your billion dollar company is crazy.
@snowingsweetie Watching people support Nintendo like this are where I was at 10 years ago. But over that 10 years they've, shut down smash tournaments, killed modded games, and keep their retro games with a mild selection, behind a subscription.
Also their games are overpriced, and exclusives.
@shoes_god@GengoraltP@BonsaiiBoii My definition of ethical is what's morally righteous or acceptable. If someone puts a lot of hard work into a mod and they're not selling it. Nintendo is only hurting that individual by shutting it down. What do they gain?
@GengoraltP@shoes_god@BonsaiiBoii Just because someone has the right to do something doesn't make it ethical. I have the right to abandon people that care about me. But that's not very ethical.
Legality is of great value for social cohesion but it's a poor standard for fairness and morality. To call someone evil for breaking the law is silly. If they're evil it's because of the underlying reason a given law exists in the first place.
Morality is in the heart of the individual who knows right from wrong.
You'd be in pieces on the shelves if companies could get away with it. They get the fire on their ass and stay within the line or they don't get the dollar. You're not dealing with a human whose morality is ambiguous or unknown to you, you're dealing with an entity for which morality is not even a factor to begin with.
@shoes_god@BonsaiiBoii Shutting down fan games/mods and smash tournaments are pretty unethical to me. As long as no one is selling anything. They're being unnecessarily controlling and harmful to the communities that love their games.
@BENKEI440209191@nalltama As far as I'm concerned the only persons standards we fell short of are yours. I think piracy is normal and a consequence of distribution failures.
