Our daughter, Rachel Corrie, was killed in 2003 in Gaza, while trying to protect a Palestinian home facing illegal destruction by the Israeli military. She was 23 years old. The massive, armored Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer that crushed her was operated by two Israeli soldiers and manufactured in the United States. It was the same type of militarized bulldozer that US presidents from George W. Bush through to Donald Trump have delivered to Israel.
Today, as the destruction of Palestinian homes has only become more commonplace, not to mention the horror of Israel’s genocide, Senator Bernie Sanders will force a vote in the Senate to try to end this cycle of death by banning the transfer of D-9 bulldozers to Israel. We hope he will not take this stand alone.
No policy can bring back those taken from us by these actions—children and other loved ones. But the Senate now has an opportunity to honor the memories of our daughter, other Americans, and thousands of Palestinian civilians killed, and to show that their deaths, and all the destruction, will no longer be condoned and funded. We hope those elected to represent us, the American people, understand the message that voting to block these D-9 bulldozers will send. This will not be a symbolic gesture, but a concrete step toward the protection of human life.

@GeringTuvia Hey bro, it's 2026, you lose all credibility when you type Israel/Jews - pls stop conflating the two.
The world is way too smart for the "anti-semitic" whining
@atrupar Using "Jewish" as cover for Zionism is the most quintessential example of "human shield" in the history of humanity.
Imagine putting all of your people in front of the violence Zionism commits in order to protect it from criticism.
France, Germany and the UK have issued a statement condemning Iran's "disproportionate" response. I want to know what they think is a "proportionate" response when invaders assassinate your head of state and civilian leaders in an explicit campaign to destroy your government.
I think this is a genuine misunderstanding many people have. The U.S. doesn’t just block American businesses from trading with Cuba, it effectively blocks basically anybody from doing it. And since December that effective block has become almost complete.
European and South American firms will not do business with Cuba because of the sanctions and terror-designation risk.
Wild how the same people who cheer Trump’s open racism suddenly pretend to care about “hate” when it’s convenient.
Mamdani condemns antisemitism with zero hesitation.
Trump built a career *fueling* it, retweeting bigots, platforming Nazis, and calling them “very fine people.”
If you’re mad at Mamdani for speaking out,
maybe the problem isn’t his message —
it’s that he doesn’t fit your script.
Real leadership protects *all* communities.
Fake patriots only protect the ones that vote for them.
Breaking:
In the past few hours, the Israeli terrorist forces slaughtered a HUNDRED Palestinians in Gaza in response a claim that an Israeli soldier was killed in Rafah.
Among the victims were over 30 children.
And among the victims were at least 4 entire families.
That’s all because a soldier was killed. You cannot know for certain if he was killed yesterday, who killed him (because Hamas denied it was them and because there are indeed militias in Rafah who Israel is funding).
Even if Israel’s claim was correct, you kill over 30 children for one soldier?
You wipe out over 4 entire families for one soldier?
You kill over 100 civilians for one soldier?
Is this what the US is allowing?
Is this self-defense?
I did not hear anyone speak about the Palestinian’s right to self-defense when Israel last Saturday killed somebody they claimed was “planning an attack”?
Noa Avishag Schnall -- @noavi on IG -- a photojournalist who reported from the Conscience for @DropSiteNews, has been released from Israeli detention.
Here she is just before her illegal abduction in international waters, and here she is after she was treated viciously in detention. "I was hung from the metal shackles on my wrists and ankles and beaten on my stomach, back, face, ear, and skull by a group of men and women guards, one of whom sat on my neck and face, blocking my airways."
The state of Israel claims to be a safe haven for Jews, but in Noa's case, she was taken there against her will and brutalized.
We'll post the video dispatch she sent soon. Harrowing. These two images are only 8 days apart:
The overwhelming sense I'm getting from people in Gaza is that this Trump-Israel offer is insanely corrupt, offensive in that it involved no Palestinian input, and colonial in its aspirations to have Tony Blair as some sort of viceroy -- but also that Hamas and PIJ should take it because anything that stops the assault and brings in food and medicine is worth it.
If they reject it, it's obvious what Israel will continue doing, and there's no obvious path toward getting anything better.
As for the argument that Israel won't respect it, that's baked in. Everybody knows that, including Trump. But that's a fight for another day, not a reason to say no.
There's also an interesting point to be made on disarmament: Most of the resistance's weapons are now made from unexploded Israeli ordnance. That ordnance isn't going anywhere for a very long time. So because of Israel's carpet bombing of Gaza, it is physically impossible to disarm Gaza.
Trump at the UN:
"I look at London where you have a terrible mayor... Now they want to go to Sharia law."
This is entirely false. London Mayor Sadiq Khan is politically moderate and has never ever called for Sharia law.
This is Islamophobic propaghanda and bigotry.
Can everyone please stop generalising? Not every city Israelis go to they chant racist slogans. The one time Israelis came to my grandparents’ city, they shot 400+ people in one day, rounded up every single human men women & children, & sent them on a death march.
C’mon.
I think tonight the idea that incumbency is an advantage died.
Moving forward, in an America that is polarized as fuck, incumbency is a disadvantage, as the electorate will crave change at each election #USAElection2024
Very happy to share some good news for once: Dr. Khaled Alser, a Gaza surgeon who has been in Israeli captivity since March 25, the lead author of a recent article in The Lancet, is now free.
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition urging his freedom, even when it felt hopeless and pointless
