👉Long read incoming, grab a coffee😄 ------------ TL/DR: Extremes from both side of the political/ideological spectrum are shitty. ------------ I've been debating on writing something about this for a few days now and decided to just go ahead. Doing what I've done for years now in the VRC space, I've been surrounded by what most people people would consider a very left leaning majority. Back in 2020-2021 I was very open in my acceptance of people with those mindsets, and although I never professed to be in that camp, my support was welcomed by them. But as time went on, and I continued to support, but not join their hivemind, I became a pariah. Shunned as being, fake or oppertunistic. By 2023 I had lost most of my "friends" and support from that community. And openly ridiculed for not aligning my personal beliefs and mentality to theirs. Over the next 2 or so years, 23-25, I just did my own thing with little to no support from any group aside from the small community of people that I built around me from my Twitch streams, which BTW are AWESOME!❤️ --------- I'll pause right here and explain my stance on a few things. I lean right on a lot of things, I'm a believer and align politically and ideologically with many on the right. But one of my core beliefs, and that of my faith, is that, regardless of whether or not I align with another person's ideology, faith, or political stance, they are still a human being with inherent human dignity and as such deserve to be treated fairly and with respect. So until a person shows disrespect toward me or my views I will show respect to them as a human being. During my streams, this is rarely an issue, as I'm just focused on being an entertaining neko and having a good time. I'm not at all shy about my stances and beliefs, and I love to talk about them and can talk ad nauseum about them, if given the opportunity, but that's not what my streams are about. Now back to the timeline. ------------ Early this year I began to make an effort to reach out and become involved with openly "right" content creators seeing as, since they were right leaning, I actually had more in common with them, ideologically and politically speaking. Again, at first, everything was fine, but as I became more involved within these communities, I became increasingly uncomfortable with the amount of absolute vitriol rampant in them. There's so many examples I could give of slurs, attacks, bigotry, racism, ect, ect rampant in these communities that were not only accepted but encouraged and laughed about. I felt dirty, and ashamed to be party to that type of behavior, even by simple association. It was an eerily familiar feeling akin to what I felt from the left side back in 2023. So I've come to the conclusion that extreme ideologies or political stances without the proper temperament of human respect is deeply flawed on both sides. And, in all honestly, I think most people know this. I think the average person knows that everybody has differing opinions on things and can get along. The issue is with social media and entertainment, the loudest and most extreme voices often get the most attention. So I guess in closing, I've come to the conclusion I obviously don't fit in with either of those groups. Yes, I do agree with what many would call "right" viewpoints, but I can also show human respect and understanding to those that don't align with my personal viewpoints in as much as they show me the same in return. So does that make me a right leaning centrist? I don't really know, and honestly I don't really care. I just know I don't want to be aligned with anybody that can't show some modicum of human decency when dealing with their fellow humans on this planet. Just let me do my thing, and if there are people who just like having a good time listening to some good music, enjoying a little bit of spicy neko goodness, and are mature enough to seperate the entertainment from reality, hopefully they will find their way into my little corner of the internet where they will be welcomed.
