Hearty congratulations to our alumnus, Dr. Lino Yovan for successfully defending his Ph. D. thesis work on #submarinegroundwaterdischarge Dr. Lino was mentored by Dr. K. Balakrishna (@Balakrishnakesh) and Dr. H. N. Udayashankar. 💐💐😊😊
We have reported large groundwater discharges into the Arabian Sea along the Udupi-Kundapur coastline in the recent issue of the Journal of Hydrology https://t.co/rlWPF1bNQE. A potential water resource that is untapped @lino_yovan@MIT_MANIPAL@MAHE_Manipal@moesgoi@deepthisTOI
Our research paper highlights significant discharges of groundwater from the southwestern coast of India into the Arabian Sea, which could augment the available groundwater resources. Link to our article in the Journal of Hydrology: https://t.co/C6RcPtQycd
Our recent review paper discusses the effects of submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) on the coast and the challenges and limitations in quantifying them. We are sharing here some insights on managing SGD resources. Use the link below for free access: https://t.co/qk9wMPfo7r
@betsyswanner Yes, it is possible. However, the seepage bags need to be put in an enclosed container to avoid pressure to the bags by the flowing water.
@betsyswanner We decided to go with sub-aerial seepage meters because we identified fresh SGD discharging during low tide. Also, the sea conditions were turbulent to deploy, or even get good readings from the seepage meters.
Whether Bengaluru rivers contains #emergingcontaminants? Yes, we detected a few in Arkavathi and Vrishabhavati rivers.
Our article in @ElsevierChemEng reports presence of antibiotics, painkillers and personal care products

Analogue modelling is one of the most accessible ways to understand the formation of mountain ranges on Earth. Check out this experiment with #GEOL20002 @SciMelb #unimelb#geology 🤩
Be authentic when giving a talk. Early career researchers are often told their talk should be “formal” but your audience will remember the science better if you tell a story. I often say things like “we were really excited to see...” or “it was a disappointing day in lab when...”
