Ms @GitanjaliAngmo says India needs a political culture where disagreement is met with dialogue, not demonisation. Fair enough.

But apparently, that principle applies only to her.

She is free to attack Congress, question the sincerity of our protests and take factually absurd positions, but Congress supporters must remain silent, as though she were some political goddess whose wisdom cannot be questioned.

And when people do question her, she immediately labels them "trolls" and compares Congress with the BJP.

That comparison is intellectually dishonest.

There is another fact her self-importance conveniently ignores: Congress had begun raising the students' demands and seeking Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation long before Sonam @Wangchuk66 entered this phase of the agitation.

That does not diminish his sacrifice or contribution in the slightest. But neither does his later intervention erase the work already being done by others.

Every struggle does not have to unfold under her banner to become sincere.

Rahul Gandhi took the students' cause to the Prime Minister's doorstep, where he was manhandled, physically assaulted and left with visible bruises. To dismiss that protest as "insincere" merely because it was not conducted according to her preferred script is not moral clarity.

It is petty proprietorship over a public movement.

When Sonam Wangchuk was detained in September 2025, it was the BJP government that used the machinery of the State against him. Congress leaders and workers publicly defended him, opposed the action and stood for his liberty.

We did so not because we agreed with every political belief held by his family, but because an injustice had been committed.

And Congress would do it again if Sonam Wangchuk, or anyone else, were unfairly targeted.

That is precisely why her "different flags, same playbook" line is such shallow nonsense.

BJP government detaining and demonising protesters is not equivalent to Congress supporters replying to her on social media.

One is State repression.

The other is democratic rebuttal.

She also objects to being called Sanghi.

But people are not describing her ideology merely because she criticised Congress. They are doing so because of her own publicly expressed positions: Hindu Rashtra, the removal of "secular" from the Constitution and open sympathy for ideas central to the Sangh worldview.

She is entitled to those views.

What she is not entitled to is the luxury of publicly preaching Sangh ideology and then behaving as though identifying it is an act of abuse.

She wants complete freedom to malign Congress, but complete protection from political scrutiny. She wants to call Congress "insincere," but anyone who exposes her contradictions becomes a troll. She wants to equate Congress with the BJP merely because Congress supporters refuse to bow before her self-image.

That is not dialogue.

That is vanity with a vocabulary.

And perhaps, before lecturing the country about "truth over tribal loyalty," she should confront a simple truth herself: Congress stood for her husband when the government targeted him.

Her selective amnesia does not erase that record.

So no, Ms Angmo, you are not above criticism.

Your husband's struggle deserves solidarity.

Your politics deserves scrutiny.

Congress can defend Sonam Wangchuk's rights without surrendering its own right to expose the hypocrisy, false equivalence and Sangh-soaked politics of his wife.

That is not the same playbook.

That is the difference between constitutional conviction and self-righteous blabber.

Before we get into making a safe examination system, @NandanNilekani must examine the need for any entrance exam. Most exams are territorial power centres and business opportunities.

Take for example CUET. It is the most unnecessary examination Imposed on the hapless Delhi students that made the CBSE scores useless and killed school education. This was done to neutralise the AAP investment in government schools a waste. These kids cannot afford private coaching and a state topper is also denied a seat.

Similarly, NEET is useless for those who want to join a private medical college. The price differential (5 lacs and 1.5 crores) is so huge that at rank 30,000 all government colleges close their admission while even at rank 13 lac, private colleges are unable to fill seats. Private colleges are reserved for the rich 1% of India. If you indeed fighting against reservation and for meritocracy, shouldn’t you include this?

The TET, even JEE advanced, UGC NET etc can be modified to make it a test for those who don’t cross a certain level of education.

We must reduce the entrance exams. We must reduce the number of students who should take the exam. Increase the eligibility. For Ex: Make 80% in boards a qualification to get into all India institutions like AIIIMS, IITs etc. Make school education mandatory. Punish those in dummy schools. Hedge. De-risk. Spread.

Make sure that a 3 hour exam doesn’t become the life altering exam. It will reduce stress. Reduce suicides. The business of entrance exams has to be reformed before we reform the conduct of such exams.
