Our latest paper on atmospheric rivers is now published in @NatureComms ! 🌧️ We’ve developed a new variable, vapor kinetic energy, to accurately track and understand the maintenance and movement of atmospheric rivers. This work is led by my former postdoc @HingOng1#Climate
The 2024 Rossbypalooza Summer School application deadline is this Sunday, April 28th. This year's theme is "Climate and Extreme Events". We are looking forward to meeting you in Chicago this summer! https://t.co/SIJmHsYw1l
Thrilled to share our recent publication in GRL with @climate_da! 🌍🔬 We discovered that in a climate with surface temperatures 10 to 20° higher than today, convective clouds can still aggregate without the influence of radiative feedbacks. Dive in: https://t.co/HrOdoREiWE
I'm joining the faculty @UChicago in July! Seeking postdocs to study atmospheric convection, dynamics, & climate change. If you're interested or know someone who might be, get in touch! Application deadline: Aug. 15. Further details here: https://t.co/yYCD9huq4p

Our new @NatureGeosci paper uses theory, reanalysis data, and a hierarchy of climate models to show that the lightness of water vapor makes cold air rise and increases low cloud cover. However, some climate models do not incorporate this effect.

Are you a #graduate#student doing #climate#research? Do you also belong to a traditionally #underrepresented background?
If so, we highly encourage you to apply to GCC at https://t.co/NlJeoVYDQX.
At GCC we are committed to create a platform for voices like yours!
Applications are now open for the 2022 Graduate Climate Conference! #GCC2022 is an annual meeting organized by grad students, for grad students in any discipline (and it's free 😎). Applications are due June 1st.

Hope to see you in October!
Tomorrow (Thursday), my student Seth Seidel will present @theAGU (A43B-08 at 11:20am). Using 1D, 2D, and 3D models, Seth will discuss a negative climate feedback due to the buoyancy effect of water vapor.
#AGU21 This is my first time to attend in-person AGU meeting. It has been so exciting to meet some old friends and to make new friends! Feel free to come and find me at my poster on Tuesday afternoon.
@LinYao76241868 will present a vertically resolved MSE analysis for convective organizations. Her framework can explicitly show which part of the atmosphere contributes most to the generation of MSE variance of convective aggregation and tropical cyclones (paper: A25D-1713).
