I know Twitter is full of experts...
But can you claim to be a strategic thinkers if you don't understand:
Arms trafficking laws
Logistics
Geography
Government policy
Fundamental inputs to capability
Manufacturing
Lack of accountability is a wonderful thing
Ironic, seeing as I was critisied for questioning the AOC's vulnerability in 2016.....
Good thing we didn't go down a similar concept of large fixed sites for all our HQ or a bunch of our log nodes.... 🤔🤔
🚨CAOC was hit early in the war
This is pretty incredible
➡️Hugely important facility but was always vulnerable
➡️Visited the alternate site (Shaw) a few times just over 10 years now and it wasn’t ready then
🟰Decent planning
➡️Still surprised leakers got through though😳

@redunley As long as we have learnt the lessons from Kanimbla and Manoora, it is exactly as you say
A repeat of that though.....that'll kill us reguardless of Block
@MattyK166@tonykevin Yes to everything - except the last time we got ships from the USN, they were in very poor condition and required a greater outlay of money to get them serviceable.
Yes SSNs are different to LPAs, but history here begs some concern
@Dr_M_Davis As long as they aren't in the same condition as the last ships we got from the USN, there shouldn't be an issue. Second-hand vessels often go on to stellar careers
This is the point of all our strategic think tanks, to have these arguments. Not debating B-21s or if we need tanks
Defining the tasks will let the force build the applicable force structure. Don't argue kit, step it up to levels that matter
'The next debate should not start with battalion numbers or reserve headcount. It should start with a sentence: Britain’s military exists to do “X”.
'Until then, the British military will continue to be asked to do everything, be prepared for almost anything, and be designed and funded for nothing coherent'

So for all those good idea fairy's out there - now you have to not only show what you are cutting to afford said idea, but where the technical workforce is coming from
And BTW. More drones = more of that technical workforce.....
I'm quite critical of @ASPI_org, I feel it has significantly lost its way over the past decade
Im halfway through this - its a very good report. I particularly am impressed by the realisation that money is no longer the only issue - technical workforce is becoming the issue
