The idiot has indeed turned soap opera. Now that nastasia has rejected prince and decided to go with Rojogin. It's Dostoevsky, so there might be something to this story, soap opera however may it seem. I am willing to trudge on to the 800 pages of thisbook.

The prince is really taken in by Nastastia Philiphovna. I don't know yet how it would unfold for both, the prince and nastasia but it's keeping my mirth alive. Let's see. I am baffled very much at myself reading this story.

Old writers do a lot of prefacing before making a point. It's truly exasperating. Now, in the idiot they are playing a game where everybody has to tell some worst act they have done in their lives. And each participant is prefacing a great deal before telling the story.
