Beauty catches the eye but what you don’t see is what truly matters.
Water can look crystal clear just like a perfect appearance but without proper disinfection, harmful microorganisms may still be there.
Clarity ≠ Safety.
Disinfection is what makes water truly clean.
After Clarification, what next!
Filtration is where water gets its final polish.
After particles settle out, water passes through layers like sand, gravel, or carbon to remove what’s still invisible.
She’s reviewing documents… but in water treatment, this is what really matters:
Sedimentation is where clarity begins.
After coagulation and flocculation, particles are given time to settle under gravity removing most of the turbidity before filtration.
If sedimentation fails:
Coagulation (in water treatment)
Raw water contains tiny particles you can’t see they won’t settle on their own.
Coagulation is the step where we add chemicals (like alum) to: neutralize particle charges
• destabilize impurities
• prepare them to stick together
#Clarification
#Pretreatment done, wat next!
Clarification doesn’t get enough respect in water treatment.
If flocs don’t settle well, filters pay the price.
Shorter filter runs.
Higher loading.
Harder control.
Good clarification protects filtration.Poor clarification creates downstream problem
Flow equalization is like a buffer for the treatment plant. It absorbs sudden flow changes and sends water forward at a more stable rate.
Why it matters:
• Better dosing
• Less process shock
• More stable treatment
• Smoother plant performance
#preTreatment
Pre-oxidation is an early control step.
In some water systems, it helps manage algae, taste/odour, and makes certain contaminants easier to remove before the main treatment stages.

Aeration is more than “adding air.”
In some water systems, it helps remove gases, improve taste/odour, and makes iron & manganese easier to remove in later stages.

Pre-sedimentation (also called pre-settling or roughing sedimentation) is an early treatment step used before coagulation/flocculation and main clarification.
