@moonkorra@Casey_Business in what world does a 'normal person' ask someone they just met what gender they are? normal people presume a person's gender based on cultural signals and physical attributes. in fact i think most 'normal' people might be offended or confused if you ask them that
@madokamujica sometimes you need a whole paragraph to describe the full meaning of words that describe a cultural concept or complicated feeling. and it can be tricky to explain the totality of meaning that is inherently understood by native speakers. i think thats what 'untranslatable' means
@GroyperFairuza@chlocoate you think its condescending of me to think my mother should be able to be seen by other people without feeling shame or guilt or that she is ugly and inadequate?
@GroyperFairuza@chlocoate my 66 year old mother refuses to go anywhere without make up on, even if she wont be leaving her car or be seen by any one. and that makes me sad as well
@blkcatgirlsplz 100%. seeing builds in survival means you KNOW that every block had to be tediously, individually placed, as well as farmed from the world
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens ok you got me there. i should have worded that differently. but you did not point out the faults with the analogy. your objections are irrelevant to the point the analogy seeks to demonstrate. you mentioned differing constraints but never explained what they are.
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens what the hell is your point? doubling the density of cars on a road means they WILL drive slower. thats just how traffic works. as i said, you do not understand his analogy.
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens when 1 lane closes, there is twice the density of cars on a given stretch of road, so they drive slower for safety. when one generator shuts down, there is twice the density of devices using the same power, so they charge slower. where does human behavior enter into this at all?
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens even if your stance is like 'it would be reasonable to switch generators immediately if the warning was only 3 minutes,' its still clear in that scenario that usable power is being wasted. just like the road space is wasted when you merge early.
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens the analogy is not in regard to behavior. the point is that switching generators at any time but the very last moment of power is a waste of resources. similarly, merging lanes any earlier than the bottle neck wastes road space, which is not commonly understood to be a resource
@PatrickStoa@NathanielGivens this is why im saying you do not understand the analogy. the 1 hour warning for the generator shut off does not translate to a 1 hour warning for the lane closure. the values are arbitrary and irrelevant.
