Give a thing, take it back...
This is seriously detrimental to our childrens' education. It shouldn't have taken a pandemic to address this long standing issue, but to now take this substitute cover back is simply appalling 😟
@simonmlewis Pre-covid, myself and my colleagues would haul ourselves to work regardless of how we felt to avoid burdening each other with extra numbers in our already overcrowded classrooms. That would be considered irresponsible now. We desperately need sub cover.
Following on from my tweets yesterday about the change to sub cover, I got this message from a teacher. This would be an example of a fairly typical scenario we can expect. One big change from pre-COVID times, is teachers won't be dragging themselves sick.
@NaAmadan@Education_Ire and for those who are opening a Special class in September, @ncseirl have not issued sanction letters for the allocation of 2 SNA’s yet!! SENO’s are waiting for the go ahead!! Like why if @ncseirl have sanctioned the class and have approved the 6 enrolments to the class!!
VIGIL. VIGIL. VIGIL. 🙏🙏🙏
Please join us this evening at 7.00 pm in Ballygarrett GAA car park for a candlelight vigil in remembrance of a beautiful young woman.

@DavidCr33393110@simonmlewis That's all well and good but just can't find any of that standard that we can afford. Has anyone else sourced hepa filters meeting the EN1822 standard for less than €500? Preferably less than €300. 😱
Solidarity, Vicky. An unimaginably difficult decision to make, but undoubtedly the right one or else it wouldn't have been on the table. Principals around the country stand with you, make no mistake.
THE CBS Primary School in Wexford town is to remain closed this coming week, having seen a major outbreak in Covid cases over the past week.
School followed guidelines, and the principal was very critical of the HSE response and guidance.

*BREAKING* The CBS Primary School in #Wexford is to remain closed tomorrow after a significant outbreak of #COVID19Ireland was confirmed. The school has seen at least 30 cases so far. Serious questions over HSE's role and recommendations here.

What a call to have to make. The stress and pressure on the Board and now the examination/trial by everyone else. We need contact tracing to be reintroduced to help manage outbreaks in schools.
Awful position to force the BOM into. The need for an effective system to support schools and proper mitigation has only been asked for for the last 18 months. And still nothing.
Fair play on making the call
