I'm Lisa Seger. I'm a farmer and a regular person and I ran for Texas State Representative, District 3 in 2018. For now I'm just a citizen/activist again.
Thanksgiving seems like a perfectly good time to announce that I am not running for State Rep again. 😉
But I am helping new candidates get on the ballot for #txlege, both in HD3 and other districts, so stay tuned for a while longer...
As you know, no one is ever found dead in their home. 😐
Abbott doesn't care about the safety of Austin's homeless population. Hiding them actually decreases their safety. You can ask them, Greg. It turns out they are people.
“A homeless man living under a downtown highway overpass was found dead in a tent on Thursday police said”
Austin’s homeless policy is unsafe for both the homeless & non-homeless
The status quo isn’t working
The State will start changing this next week https://t.co/9qsx654dZd
Breaking: @JohnCornyn and other Senate Republicans just introduced a bill that would *require* public schools to adopt this technology: https://t.co/ePubjm4NZy

Hi, @TonyBuzbee... An endorsement is a recognition of who would best serve the interests a district/city/state. It's not a prediction of who will win.
2. You forgot me.
Today, w/@ChronOpinion endorsing @SylvesterTurner (https://t.co/xc9zTVRaRH), @TonyBuzbee takes out a full-page ad listing prior Chronicle-endorsed candidates who lost:
I fully understand the reluctance of communities of color to trust the government with data that can, and has historically been, used against them. But if we don't get a good count, we don't get a fair chance to be represented for another decade. Get counted.
Imagine the brain worms you would have to have to characterize the people fighting to get all Texans affordable health care, properly funded schools and living wages as the enemy. SMDH.
This is unacceptable rhetoric from any American in reference to their fellow Americans, but coming from an elected official it is doubly grotesque and even dangerous. Grow up, Dan.
Guess what, Dan? Liberal progressives are your voters' neighbors. We're the folks who put their cows away when they get out. We're the ones who let their grandkids come pet the goats. We feed the first responders when the town is on fire. They know us even if you don't.
.@speakerbonnen at 36:25-ish on MQS tape: "My goal is for this to be the worst session in the history of the legislature for cities and counties” #txlege
One woman I spoke with at length said they asked for street lights. What they got instead was harassment of their sons after dark.
Which of those things do you think makes a community safer?
Communities of color are routinely over policed and under served. This article is about Philly, but it came up when I was block walking in 2018.
We need to fundamentally rethink policing and what services actually promote community safety.
