@ameliawig@ArtMuseumInterp @ChevalierJuline The drive / pressure to produce is part of this system we’re in. I’m realizing more and more that to build the kinds of relationships that are needed is actually pretty radical.
@ArtMuseumInterp A4: I was in a conversation earlier about needing to cultivate a willingness to make mistakes. As white people and/or predominantly white institutions, we have to see making mistakes and being called out on them as a gift & opportunity to learn. #ArtMuseumInterp
@ArtMuseumInterp A3: at my institution we've begun using the language "Artist Unrecorded" to acknowledge the absence of that information. It's not that it's unknown but that it wasn't deemed important. #ArtMuseumInterp
@ArtMuseumInterp A1: we've been talking a lot about how do we present what's absent. Labels are one way to address this. Programs can be another. Empty spaces on the wall / in the cases? #ArtMuseumInterp
@pablitasan and the added benefit/necessity that it distributes the work across the institution, rather than asking Education depts to "represent". #MASSActionReadingGroup
@pablitasan I feel like most institutions feel more comfortable in the non-racist zone but shy away from the anti-racism space. And then as @anniessafatima notes, feel very self-congratulatory. #MASSActionReadingGroup
A4: my institution falls into the category of moving more quickly on outward facing efforts. there is movement internally but much more is needed. #MassActionReadingGroup
A1: the RIGOR needed - research and practice of many forms - is HUGE to this work - and pair that with the fact that museum educators, esp. freelance, are often underpaid and have little job security. #MassActionReadingGroup
Joining in from Ann Arbor, MI. Super excited for today. I follow @pablitasan closely - had the honor and privilege of attending graduate school with her and appreciate the leadership she - and so many others! - have taken on social justice in our work. #MassActionReadingGroup
@ConsciousPod@pjpolicarpio This slide was also about making less than the previous male who was in the same position. She made $80k compared to his $85k.
@KayleighBinDC @MuseumUtopia I would also add that even when our institutions are supportive of flatter / more collaborative ways of working in words, are they allowing for what that means for timeline and outcomes (less control)? #MASSActionReadingGroup (whoops! forgot hashtag!)

@sierra_vrd I found the clear articulation powerful as well. Working in a university context, I feel like there is a lot of language being developed to help us talk about colonial legacies but what is less clear is how we move from identifying & articulating to dismantling. That's up next!
