So proud of my colleague @Daniel_Ospina who led the work collecting this year's most important insights on #ClimateChange. @FutureEarth makes the latest science relevant for policy makers.
We are happy and proud to launch this long awaited report - showing that justice is a prerequisite for a safe and stable planet 🌍 @SafeJustPlanet@FutureEarth
NEW REPORT 📖
This new @TheLancetPlanet publication, co-authored by over 60 researchers and led by J Gupta, @xuemeibai_aus & @DianaLiv, details the #SafeAndJust Space - where the planet is stable, and harm to people is minimised.

📢 Today Global Commons Alliance's Earth Commission @SafeJustPlanet publishes its newest paper in @TheLancetPlanet
The new science builds on the #SafeAndJust Boundaries, to quantify a “Safe and Just Space” for planet & people to thrive – if Earth’s resources are better shared.👇
Our new Earth Commission @SafeJustPlanet science in @TheLancet quantifies human corridor on Earth for safety and justice. Take home? Planetary Safety necessary for Justice. And Justice a prerequisite for Planetary Safety https://t.co/TenB63oeu5
I may feel a bit like a ‘coral out of water’ in a social science conference, but looking forward to it and privileged to be invited and present on new framings that show how #justice and #equity are not just right, but core drivers of good outcomes in #sustainability.
Founded in 2019 by @futureearth, the Earth Commission is the scientific cornerstone of the @globalcommonshq and defines #SafeAndJust#EarthSystemBoundaries to inform the next generation of science-based targets.

“Earth Commission has done fantastic work on understanding aspects related to boundaries”
The Commission’s new Co-chair @Fatima_Denton discusses progress made so far on defining #SafeAndJust#EarthSystemBoundaries and how the Commission’s next assessment will build on this work:
Klimatpolitiska rådets sågning av svensk klimatpolitik är saklig och motiverad. Det är ytan under utsläppskurvan som räknas, vilket innebär att utsläppen måste minska > 60% till 2030, inte öka, för att hålla Sverige inom en vetenskaplig koldioxid budget https://t.co/HCbUfwPHaO
How to retain flourishing ecosystems and Nature's contributions to people? The question is answered in this important paper from the Earth Commission - highly policy relevant for planning cities and agricultural lands! @SafeJustPlanet@awazmsm@dobura@peterverburg11@fadeclerck
📢 New Earth Commission Study: Nature's Contribution to People!
Published in @OneEarth_CP the study reveals how people will miss out on the many benefits nature provides unless 20–25% (semi-)natural habitat are secured in #ag & #urban landscapes 🌳👥: https://t.co/9Q2Aeh88Kr
📢 New Earth Commission study led by @xuemeibai_aus introduces how #cities & #business can align sustainability efforts with Earth system boundaries (ESBs).
Before ESBs are operationalised, they need to be translated.➡️:https://t.co/dPYT3KrEtE

To those who opposed a clear reference to phase out of fossil fuels during the #COP28 Climate Conference, I want to say:
Whether you like it or not, fossil fuel phase out is inevitable. Let’s hope it doesn’t come too late.
No, COP28 will not enable us to hold the 1.5°C limit, but yes, the result is a pivotal land-mark. It makes clear to finance, business and societies that we are now finally - 8 years behind Paris schedule - at the beginning of the end of the fossil-fuel driven world economy (1/4).
