Public librarian, #STL booster, #democracy nerd, & very proud mother of 3. While I work at a library, views are mine & may not be same as theirs. She/her please
Honor to be asked (& relieved not to fall on my face). Main points: used to think #bannedbooks quaint/a thing of the past. Books & #libraries again under attack, part of anti-LGBTQIA+ culture wars. Oft challenged Angelou found solace & strength in libraries/books. Still she rose.
.@STLpubLibrary's Lisa Throrp reads from Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings to open the first day of the new session of the Board of Aldermen.
@kclawder @STLpubLibrary Also sharing link to SLPL's YouTube page with business programs - there is at least one on biz plans (not nonprofit specific, but likely helpful...) https://t.co/Xa8eMJHJZo Good luck to them!
@kclawder @STLpubLibrary https://t.co/YuhlOuCYKV - need a SLPL card & PIN to access outside the Library (but all the cool kids have library cards, right?) Also, of course, we have books...

Your vote is your voice, and @stl_board has expanded ballot access in our city. I voted early at Julia Davis @STLpubLibrary, one of our four no-excuse absentee voting locations. It was fast, easy, and convenient!

Libraries are anchors for our neighborhoods. Today, I joined @STLpubLibrary for the opening of the third Creative Experience space at the Julia Davis branch. These include state-of-the-art printers, recording equipment, and digital media software. All you need is a library card!
Make that “I VOTED” - buzzed over to the @stl_board over lunch, showed my ID (new law - but remember if you are registered, you CAN vote), & worked through ballot, which was easier bc I had visited @LWVSTL’s https://t.co/Z7y8CLAgmx & figured stuff out. Please make a plan & #VOTE!
