A l'occasion du déplacement d'Andre Correa Do Lago, la Mission a accueilli aujourd'hui une réunion du Groupe des amis sur le climat, co-présidé par la France et le Maroc, en vue de la COP30 de Belém en novembre prochain, qui marquera également les 10 ans de l'Accord de Paris.

There is a race that must not be stopped and that we all together must win: the race against climate change.

A strong proposition from the Paris Appeal for Glaciers and the Poles: the United Nations commits to a Decade of Action for Cryosphere Sciences.

What it means:

Over the next 10 years, scientists from around the world will unite and intensify their research on the cryosphere to better understand and protect it.

The vast ice sheets of Antarctica and Greenland, sea ice in the Arctic and Southern Ocean, snow cover, mountain glaciers, permafrost...

We are talking about 10% of the Earth's surface, where the consequences of climate change have dramatic impacts on the rest of the planet.

Protecting these regions means protecting ourselves.

Today the resolution on the Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences was adopted at the @UN General Assembly! 👏

Launched in the Paris Call of the #OnePlanetPolarSummit, & co-facilitated with 🇹🇯, the Decade 2025-2034 will focus on needed scientific research on the #cryosphere.

Traduction :

Durant les 10 prochaines années, les scientifiques du monde entier vont s’unir et intensifier leurs recherches sur la cryosphère pour mieux la comprendre et mieux la protéger.

Vastes inlandsis de l'Antarctique et du Groenland, glace de mer en Arctique et Océan austral, manteau neigeux, glaciers de montagne, pergélisol…

On parle ici de 10 % de la surface de la Terre où les conséquences du changement climatique ont des répercussions dramatiques sur tout le reste de la planète.

Protéger ces régions, c’est nous protéger.

During 2024 HLPF, I recalled that France & Kazakhstan will organize a "One Water Summit" to strengthen the political mobilization on water solutions.

We are jointly committed to enhancing global water governance and accelerating action on SDG6 on Water and sanitation.
