in another interview, Tsai Chiayin also revealed that #SunQian herself said she didn’t want there to be any male gaze in #TheEarlySpring
(t/n: male gaze refers to portraying women from a male perspective, often framing them as objects of sxual attraction)

Sunqian said: “I don’t want there to be any male gaze in our drama.”
There was one particular scene where they were filming, and Qian noticed something and said, “Isn’t this maybe a little… 👀?”
So they immediately sat down with Qian, the cinematographer, and the director and discussed it together.

Some dramas focus the camera on an actress’s chest, thighs, or other body parts for an unnecessarily long time, turning her body into something for the audience to look at rather than part of the character or story.

And I really appreciate that they actually listened to her concern and discussed it together instead of simply saying, that’s just how the scene is shot. the fact that the actor can also act as a check on the camera and the way a scene is presented feels really important.

Gao Xiaoxian, #TheEarlySpring screenwriter and producer shared that #jingboran prepared Luan Nian's biography in PPT at the first project meeting. also shared her impression of #sunqian for first time.

she recalled that when Jing Boran first came to discuss the project, he brought a tablet with a keyboard. Once he opened it, it turned out he had personally put together a character profile of Luan Nian, along with his own understanding of the role.

“He broke down the character with the main creative team as if he were presenting a ppt. At that moment, I thought: He is literally Luan Nian himself.”

After reading the script, Jing Boran had a very deep understanding of his character. He also took the initiative to suggest that this idol drama should have its own distinctive aesthetic and visual identity. He actively discussed Luan Nian’s outfits and even the interior design and decor of his home with the team. He was extremely meticulous when it came to the styling. Before filming even started, he sent truckload after truckload of his own clothes to the set.

in the original novel, Shang Zhitao is from Harbin and is 172cm tall, a height that Sun Qian herself perfectly matches. During their first meeting in person, Sun Qian directly expressed her deep admiration for the character of Shang Zhitao.

“Qianqian told me that she herself had been a migrant worker in Beijing and had to bear everything on her own, ” Gao Xiaoxian said “Later she even asked me if we would film in Harbin”. Sun Qian was especially happy to learn that the series would be filmed in both Beijing and Harbin. She herself has a cheerful and genuine personality, which is highly consistent with the character’s background

"On the day of the costume fitting, Jing Boran and Sun Qianyi changed clothes in turn, probably dozens of outfits. We watched them go in and out of the fitting room and show them off. It really felt like we were watching an idol drama."

Jiang Jizheng, the director also highly approves of Sun Qian, saying, "Sun Qian has a cool appearance, but her eyes have a kind of tenacity that Shang Zhitao needs."
