Episode 2 is live. @liseman from @MakeSunsets is deploying sulfur dioxide to the stratosphere and selling cooling credits to fund it.
I believe cooling is necessary! But I'm less sure that acting without institutional buy-in gets us where we need to go. Luke's dismissal of deployment risks is both compelling and concerning, and I'd love to hear where you come down.

We just hit a new milestone!
This month, we deployed a record-breaking 23,951 Cooling Credits, offsetting the equivalent of what over 1 million mature trees lasting a year.
Yesterday’s launch helped push us over the edge: 3 biodegradable balloons, 4,585g of SO2, and a 100% success rate reaching the stratosphere.
Launch details below
“Make Sunsets looks like amateur league, academics come across as hypocrites, and the nonprofits seem focused on complaining about anyone ever doing anything,” Iseman said in an email to E&E News. “In other words, Ben accurately documented reality.”

jfc. it's like the one other geoengineering co is trying to be as sketchy as possible.
"Stardust Solutions hired the the law firm Holland & Knight in the first quarter of 2025, but the firm didn’t disclose its lobbying “due to a clerical error"
"we are ~250 years into a global geoengineering experiment... It isn’t if we should start, it’s how we should continue... we can take responsibility for everything humans *do*, not just what we *mean to do.*" - https://t.co/DFPI2g6ffc @PeterOlivier
