I am a literacy coach at the secondary level. I work to weave literacy skills and practices throughout content standards and all areas of secondary instruction.

What is your school’s PD focus for next year?

@DrP_Principal We are going for reading and writing across the curriculum. I am creating 12-15 mini-lessons per month for each content area in 9th and 10th grade. The lessons are 5-10 minutes in length depending on the teacher. Each kids essentially gets an intervention class per day.

@TWhycast I always dream of having the most positive effect on the largest amount of teachers and students. It almost always centers around starting my own school and implementing all that I have learned in my 15 year of teaching and the 25 years of the education I experienced.

@justintarte There is a wonderful teacher in my building who makes a point to say students' names whenever she is talking. When she gives general instructions she constantly weaves names into it as if she is talking to all of them individually rather than as a group. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
