New York City's socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani walked into a crowd of roughly 3,500 residents and families on the Midland Beach boardwalk Tuesday night — and got shouted right back out. The New York Post reports he was 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 the moment he stepped toward the podium at the NYPD's 43rd Patrol Borough National Night Out Against Crime.

The man famous for bloated, spotlight-soaking speeches managed 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞. He forced a smile, wished Staten Islanders a 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦, and was quickly whisked off to the side while the jeers rolled in and attendees flashed him the thumbs-down.

It is not hard to see why. This is the same Mamdani who built a career trashing the very officers he was standing in front of — and Staten Island is the one borough that flatly 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐱. The cold shoulder, the Post notes, was a world away from the usually festive Night Out celebrations across the city.

The Post notes the 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥-𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 mayor still lingered to pose for a few photos before fleeing the event entirely, ego bruised, grin intact.
