Obsessed with this guy on the US men's gymnastics team who's only job is pommel horse, so he just sits there until he's activated like a sleeper agent, whips off his glasses like Clark Kent and does a pommel horse routine that helps deliver the team its first medal in 16 years.
@KBella6131 @dmichaelclary I had a similar experience! A year after visiting, and a person I'd met once before asked me if I was visiting, and that was the last straw. I've since found a church that breathes hospitality, and it has honestly been life- changing. I pray you can find that in your area. ❤️
@CasieBazay On a poem, the person sending the rejection said they loved it and fought for it, but at the end of the day, they could only accept two, and she got out voted. It was nice to know someone felt strongly enough to fight for my piece. She hoped I'd find a place for it. (Not yet!)
@JennMGreenberg @WomnOfValor Thanks, Milton! (I'm teaching Paradise Lost right now, and trying to show my students all the things we assume about the narrative because they're in Milton and not actually in the Bible, lol. This is one of them!)
@JosiahHawthorne I think it always help to keep it focused on the kid: "We're all here because we want what's best for {kid's name}. So how can we work together to achieve that in class?" If anyone tries to say anything that doesn't serve this goal, steer the conversation back to that question.❤️
I love it when people pursue majors in literature or the arts. I love when they continue to educate themselves long after they finish formal schooling. Studying the humanities is a rejection of the mindset that says money and machines are all that matter.
@CarolineKautsi1 Okay, but for real, I've found you can get teenagers interested in literature a lot better if you treat every plot point like hot gossip--"yo, can believe Darcy just straight up roasted Elizabeth like that?"
