The narrative of hijab being an object of oppression sticks because we do not talk enough about the discrimination and hostility that hijabis face.
The narrative is often pushed as though only women who do not wear the hijab are bullied or pressured, which is far from the truth, not wearing a hijab is the norm in most parts of the world, while only a few countries have imposed strict rules on hijab.

Hijabis face hostility in many places, particularly in parts of the West.
In Germany, a hijabi woman was reportedly dragged by her hijab by a police officer while people watched, without the fact that she was wearing a hijab, the incident would more easily be understood simply as a man physically assaulting a woman.
The hijab made people overlook the sexism and violence involved because the victim is a hijabi.
there have been cases of schools and parents raising concerns about Muslim girls wearing the hijab because of the bullying they may face, meaning even little children have learned to treat hijabis differently, as if they were strange or not belonging.

The deaths of Marwa El-Sherbini and Nahid Almanea were killed because they wore hijab, why do the champions of supporting Muslim women don’t echo their names like they do with Mahsa Amini? Because theirs is “slightly” accepted. Or the attacks on hijabis are seen as normal..

We also do not talk enough about the everyday forms of harassment online, someone can post a random picture of a hijabi online, and the comment section can quickly fill with Islamophobic insults directed at her, yet no one raises this as an issue of misogyny or cyber harassment in the same way it would be if the woman were being targeted for another visible characteristic. People who deliberately pull, remove, or tamper with women's hijabs in public,
treating it as a joke or as something they have a right to do or even mocked, insulted, or treated differently.

Then there are the stereotypes even from women, hijabis assumed to be uneducated, sheltered, oppressed, or inexperienced simply because of what they wear or she has not been exposed to the world or does not have the ability to make decisions for herself.
Racism and hostility towards brown are directed on hijabis because the hijab makes them similar to MENA.

And not just the West, Hijabis can also face pressure within Muslim communities. Certain styles of hijab, abaya, niqab, or modest dress can be considered "too much," depending on the community or social group. Women can receive snide comments, be accused of extremism or trying to appear more religious than others, or be subjected to stereotypes about their personality simply because of how they dress, “these hijabis, they do worse inside hijab”, even fake stories of a man caught inside a woman’s hijab is passed around.

The Push on hijab is rooted in Islamophobia, misogyny and racism and this is also protected or overlooked by feminists that would have stand in solidarity if it was the case round.
And also the fact that people can’t draw similarities between France and Afghanistan in this case is rooted in racism and colonialism. Brown people do something = “Bad, oppression, discrimination”
Europeans/Colonisers do it = “might be explainable with enough English”
if we are going to seriously discuss the hijab and women's autonomy to be what they want, we have to include the freedom to wear it without being bullied, assaulted, stereotyped, or treated as though choosing it automatically means that someone else must have forced the choice on her.

If women’s rights to what to wear has a code & conduct, then it is not a right, it is the repeat of whatever you claim to be fighting.

Hmm my brother, that's Because the legality and even the reality does not erase facts about humanity.

Yes, Islam permits polygyny, with heavy conditions, justice, responsibility, and emotional awareness. But the permission is not an obligation, and the law does not cancel the pain it comes with.

A woman is not a switch you turn off and on with rulings. She has a heart, even more flexible than ours as a man.
And the thought of sharing the man she bonded with, emotionally, spiritually, physically, is not just easy mehhn.

Islam never commanded women to be numb. Even the Mothers of the Believers felt jealousy, and the Prophet SAW acknowledged their emotions with mercy, and not otherwise.

Acceptance is not automatic, it takes time, reassurance, character, justice, and extraordinary maturity from the man, and not pressure from the society.

If a man struggles to imagine his wife with another man for one second, then he should understand why a woman struggles with the idea of a second wife.

Compassion is also part of humanity and Islam. Not everything permissible is easy to carry.

We were here when reports emerged of farmers paying bandits to be able to plant and and pay them to be able to harvest crops.

So when you come in November 2025 and claim Christians are being targeted for killings, why are you surprised, people push back and bring evidence the attack victims are indiscriminate.

Moreso, when you insist "Muslims too can talk about their victims too", while honing in on Benue, Plateau only, your motive is clear.

Other Muslim victims in so many states in North-West, North-Central and North-East doesn't concern you.

And you are deliberate not to mention South-West where victims of insecurity include vast number of Muslims too.

What you are interested in, is to frame it in religious terms.

If the searchlight is beamed on South-East for example where IPOB/ESN has committed exactly Shekau-level crimes. Forced abduction of girls, kidnapping, ransoms of victims, murder of innocent people, cannibalism, maiming of people, name it. It would give a real picture of widening insecurity and erase the religious rays being cast on insecurity.

Anyways, a little history lesson. The man in the picture is Collin Powell, and that picture was his pitch at the UN claiming that Iraq in 2003 had Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Collin Powell would later apologise that, his claim was due to a failure of intelligence, even when every single body including the UN insisted there was scarcely any evidence Iraq had WMD's.
