Update: My dad passed away on 3/9/24. Today we were informed his disability claim was closed upon his death. There was acknowledgment of the “screw up” and the claim should have been approved last fall. “Deny & Deter” approach. My family will not be deterred. This man had no peace in his life due to the horrors of Vietnam. Give him that peace in death. @SenJoniErnst @ChuckGrassley

This is my father, Ken Van Veen, a marine who served in Vietnam. He is currently in his final days/hours due to cancer. Not only is he fighting cancer but he is also fighting the VA to receive the disability payment that he deserves. He is being told he has to provide “proof” that he served in Vietnam. How is it possible that there are no records of his service? @SenJoniErnst please help us so this man can finally have the peace that he so rightfully deserves.
