Final post and it's for #craftbeerhour popped into @StationEastGH for a lovely @AbbeydaleBeers pale and into @MicrobusG for a smashing @RoostersBrewCo Thousand Yard Stare which was my very first cask in the Bus a week after it opened.
@JHCPAL@TyneSnapper@Catus14 Definitely heard this in 70's Wrekenton, also cack handed. Although cack handed would normally refer to something akin to being a crap juggler always dropping something, cowie handed alluded to left handed. Having said that I've slept since the 70's....so y'kna might be off.
@LizARees@JHCPAL@StuartHeron4@TyneSnapper Condensation! Every single glazed window in the house would suffer. Probably still warmer than the pre fab houses opposite us
@TyneSnapper@JHCPAL@warren_maguire My Dad was brought up on Gateshead side of Redheugh Bridge. He says Traders would often park up waggons and walk animals across bridge via toll both as it was apparently cheaper than driving over. Him and pals would collect the manure for allotments. Every little counts!
@JHCPAL@StuartHeron4@TyneSnapper We used to have a couple of paraffin heaters in our gateshead mid terrace house for the winter. Used to pop up to the local garage for a fill up and a smurf as a kid. No central heating but the gas fire was a centre place in the living room, Dad incandescent when switched on!
@neheritagelib@TyneSnapper Pleased it's not still in use, I regularly make the trip from the gateshead side and return lighter in the pocket yet heavier around the waist.
@APPGCW I'll never understand why murderers ever bother with knives or guns to kill people when you could simply buy a car with little or no come back on your crimes
@neheritagelib Embleton to Berwick. Then the return trip today via a slightly different route. The borders are rich in history of all kinds but the various bridges across the Tweed cover different periods and styles.
@neheritagelib Cycled across the chain bridge yesterday, fabulous bit of engineering and architecture. Just don't bring your fancy big range rover and expect to waltz across....
@craftbeerncl If it was Birmingham yes (although Cross Country Trains are bloody awful) but it's at the NEC which is a soulless middle of nowhere place.
