Time folds. Magic lingers. Perception shapes reality. I explore the spaces in between. I bridge the hidden patterns of the universe into things you can feel.
@AmericanALCHMY Humanity crossed:
7 billion ~ 2011
8 billion ~ 2022
You might think it’s an easter egg saying, “what you’re seeing didn’t happen now.” The 7-billion-person world and the 8-billion-person world are not the same world.
@LilithDatura
Some will need this…
1. Time gets weird first
Days compressed. Hours stretched. You’ll lose track. You’ll swear something already happened, and then it does.
2. Dreams stop being dreams
They become instructions or initiations. You wake with emotional residue, names, places, scenes, that feel loaded.
Some dreams continue across nights.
3. Synchronicity becomes navigation
Not “wow” anymore. Information. Something repeats across three unrelated places. It’s pattern responding.
4. You start living around “parallel humans”
This is the by far the weirdest part.
People will be physically present, socially functional, but it will feel as if some are running on a different operating layer.
Over time this mismatch will resolve and some will gradually fade out of your perception.
5. Emotional latency breaks
Reactions arrive late or early. It’s just desynchronization between experience and interpretation.
6. Language starts to feel blunt
Words either feel too heavy or too thin. You’ll struggle to describe what you mean. You’ll abandon sentences. Metaphor works better than explanation. Silence begins to carry more information than speech.
You’re outgrowing a bandwidth.
7. Memory reorganizes
Memory bleed that’s not linear. Your life story will begin to feel “editable.”
Focus on what still matters.
8. Fatigue without pathology
Just processing load. Your system is integrating more signal with the same body.
9. Places lose or gain charge
Some environments become intolerable. Others feel unusually safe or vivid.
You leave rooms quickly without knowing why.
Space starts behaving like information versus backdrop.
10. A shrinking tolerance for performative reality
Certain rituals feel hollow. Small talk exhausts you. Status games feel surreal.
Just misalignment.
12. Sudden clarity around boundaries
Your body answers before your mind gets involved.
13. The sense of being “ahead” is replaced by loneliness
This is subtle but important. It doesn’t feel like insight. It feels like waiting. You’re not trying to convince anyone. You’re just aware that certain conversations can’t happen yet.
It will pass.
14. Care becomes the anchor
Things like: make food, care for children or animals, cleaning, creating, grow something, touch…
The more reality destabilizes conceptually, the more care becomes the organizing principle.
15. You stop needing to know what it “means”
This is typically the last shift.
You still notice the patterns but you’re not chasing interpretations. Things pass through without grasping.
Capacity replaces certainty.
That makes a lot of sense. Your estimate might account for this but it seems there’s not a single, stable offense:defense ratio. The balance can shift and change depending on the area.
For less forgiving areas like biology the consequence structure could be asymmetrical if defenders (legacy systems, institutions, supply chains, etc) can’t keep pace operationally even though the intelligence has done its part defensively (e.g. rapid detection, vaccine design).
That might mean selective friction versus binary choice.
100% on gain of function research. It gets dark if researchers start creating transferable improvements.
There’s a double attractor danger as well: powerful models could make catastrophic misuse easier and fear of that misuse could justify permanent architecture of centralized control. They reenforce one another.
Distribute broadly while preventing the concentration or anonymous exercise of catastrophic leverage.
The amount of cynicism toward Midjourney’s full-body scanner exposes the poverty of our present imagination.
But by all means, please carry on trying to prove that reality will remain approximately as constrained as you already believe it to be.
Tip: ask your AI about “scarcity trauma.”
I was paid a visit to my home. They knocked on the door and I remember thinking, “The clergy fit is interesting.” I was worried they might bump their head being ~9’ tall. After greeting everyone it dawned on me that they weren’t “from here.” And just like that they were gone.
I woke up at 2 AM and was up for a few hours and then I went back to sleep. I had the craziest dreams when I went back to sleep, it actually was like a nightmare, but I’m so confused why this would’ve been a nightmare.
In the dream, I had kinetic abilities to move things without touching them. I could open doors, and I was frightened of this, even though I’ve had dreams like this before, and I was never scared. I haven’t had these drinks in a long time- just by the way.
It literally was an ongoing dream. It just would not stop. I thought to myself “you better post about this when you wake up”.
I have no idea what it means, I’m not delusional about superpowers when it comes to that, I don’t really know what it means 🤷🏻♀️👀.
@LilithDatura@isostran00 That’s interesting. I got the same timing at the beginning of last year and I remember feeling hoodwinked because I had been thinking sooner. ⏳
Asymmetry is the game. Power compounds wherever the next bottleneck is scarce. Whoever controls the scarce bottleneck controls the shape of the future. Doesn’t even require a “villain” in the classic sense.
Look back → land, ships, capital, factories, oil, broadcast networks, financial rails, software platforms
Look now a/AI → compute, data, chips, energy, model access, distribution. regulation, institutional adoption
Look forward w/BCI’s & Neurotech→ attention, cognition, intention, neural data, identity, augmentation, eventually interface layer between person and machine
Not as simple as “industry.” It’s hierarchy migrating into the nervous system.
What happens when the interface is a cognitive prosthetic, a neural decoder, an attention-shaping system, or an AI layer mediating perception and action?
Asymmetry becomes existential.
Who gets enhanced?
Who gets monitored?
Who owns the data?
Who sets the defaults?
Who can opt out?
Who is forced to participate because everyone else did?
Who controls the continuity of self across machine-mediated systems?
Think less new tool. Think more power amplifier.
Power amplifiers don’t land on a flat field. They land inside existing asymmetries: wealth, state power, military power, corporate scale, legal sophistication, institutional access, and public ignorance. So unless there’s deliberate counterforce, the default path ≠ liberation. The default path = continuity of power with better instrumentation.
Rather than asking, “good or bad?” Ask, good or bad for whom, under whose control, with what exit rights, and with what ability for ordinary people to contest the system once it becomes infrastructure?
Possibly a creative interface device. Like an orb that you gesture with, speak to, touch. Or something that senses and captures you/your world and generates from that. Then maybe a light field viewer that brings your imagery into the environment in a much more spatial and alive way.
