There are countless accounts from people who work in nursing homes about residents who have children and grandchildren but rarely have visitors. Who die with the staff or alone because no one was there at the time.

The point is some people seem to think having kids is a guarantee of care and being constantly surrounded by loved ones in your elder years and this is not guaranteed at all.

@k1tty_bug @zapatas_mom I personally am very involved with my elderly parents as they have health issues and need help.I have siblings who don’t even check in to see how things are going let alone offer to help. It’s not about how they were treated, it’s that they prioritize other things in their lives.

@k1tty_bug @zapatas_mom People don’t need kids to have loved ones who care about them who will notice they’re unwell and won’t let them become homeless. Many adult children also don’t sacrifice their time to care for their elderly parents. The idea that having kids guarantees care is just not true.

@k1tty_bug @zapatas_mom I know many more than that who are happy with a husband and dogs, or cats, or no pets. I also know many who are happy with children. And I know a few in both scenarios who are unhappy. There’s no right or wrong. People are different and different things make them happy.

@k1tty_bug @zapatas_mom Lol that’s such a broad assumption and blatantly false in most cases. Choosing not to have your own kids doesn’t mean you hate kids at all. Many people without kids are enthusiastically involved in the lives of kids in their family or friends circle.

It’s weird to say they can’t want a photo album of their memories because of what may happen to them when they die in 40+ years
