Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him seriously… because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their “Day One” period to consolidate their power. (After all, if you’re hellbent on staying in power but aren’t likely to win the next election, you can’t have your political opponents running around free.)
To keep fascism out of our lives, vote for democracy!
I spoke on the House floor today to honor the late Al McCoy, the legendary voice of the Phoenix @Suns.
Over five decades on the mic, his constant presence—every "Shazam!" and "Zing Go the Strings!"—brought the entire Phoenix community together.
Godspeed, Al.
We organize with Haitian-origin farm workers in NY. They’re as American as the apple pie their work makes possible, but right wing racists are spreading dehumanizing lies.
Haitians are not eating pets.
They’re feeding America.
The anti-Haitian bigotry we’re seeing is repulsive.
This outcome is an opportunity. A fresh start for Tempe to come together, along with our City Council, neighborhood associations, advisory boards and community groups to begin having inclusive, deliberate & multiple public conversations about what we want & need as a community.
@JonGoalie @StigileAaron @Tempe_Wins Lol. I actually am a civics teacher. I do know how city government works. They are required to hold public meetings (which they did). But the critique is that they did it before a public holiday probably knowing many wouldn’t show up. It’s just shady and so a worthy critique.
@Wimbledon Also any of the Williams v Williams finals. Though they weren't the greatest matches it would have been incredible to see them play in person against each other.
