Marketing vs Product Marketing… specifically as it pertains to enablement and the software needed to provide a good acquisition experience.

There is a single objective or strategic KPI, and for “reasons” an organization has two teams aimed at it.

This is org design debt. It comes from execs being too chicken shit to make the changes needed over time.

In other news... after interviewing a bit, and wrestling with what to do next in my career. I’ve decided to do everything I can to pursue the trajectory of leading Product and Engineering again.

“The split” causes a lot of stress if there isn’t perfect philosophical alignment

I hate that “Product” means product management (maybe design) to most.

Product should mean the entire team responsible for building the right thing AND building the thing right.

Anything less is fucking bullshit

I wonder how many organizations encourage their folks to be truly genuine, when participating in an interview.

You can see this discomfort and internal battle when you’ve asked a question they have two answers to: the company-approved answer and the real answer...
