@BlackMajikMan90 You are so right, this is what I was trying to materialize in my thoughts, but you absolutely nailed it. Hate how the internet took away all of the nuance
Bear is not immediately the villain of Obsession, as he simply couldn’t overcome his overwhelming insecurities for female affection.
However, there is a certain point (or two) where it’s made abundantly clear to him that this isn’t a game and something is extremely wrong. Yet he does nothing about it and continues to believe that he can make this situation work.
That’s when he officially becomes the villain because the situation completely spirals out of control.
idc about movie discourse but i do think we need to wake it up that bear from obsession IS a rapist and nikki is a victim. he took that woman’s autonomy and then was upset that she didn’t act exactly the way he wanted her to + didn’t want her anymore
and yes it is that deep
@GodzillaMendoza Yes, I remember you talked about saying that killing the people involved in his families murder was just an excuse to kill if I’m correct. Hunting criminals in general seems like way more heroic than the true nature of the punisher which is just trying to find an excuse to kill.
