Implementing our Shaping Algebraic Reasoning PD into the classroom. Students built and walked around trying to determine other groups’ pattern rule. They were able to see the rate of change and constant. Great way to start linear relations! @TDSBmath @LizBHolder @ldilworth1

Day 2 of Leadership in Destreamed Mathematics PD and leaders got to play with algebra tiles to explore how they could use them to collect like terms, add/subtract polynomials, multiply and expand, factor and complete the square. So much fun! @LizBHolder @ldilworth1 @TDSBmath

Analyzing students' answers on EQAO sample questions from a google form to determine any common misconceptions & to help create small group instruction to work on specific topics with certain students or with the whole class. @LizBHolder @ldilworth1

Loved seeing the ten sticks being used today at @TPPS_TDSB with gr1/2 student during student math interviews. Such an easy way to practice splitting by grouping tens together! No more finger counting! @TDSBmath @ldilworth1 @LizBHolder @npersaudLC4

Awesome gr9 Ss solves 2x+3=x+1 w/ algebra tiles. Day before we used tiles to add&subtract polynomials. Then a bit of direct instruction for solving equations & off they went! I didn’t even do an example for multi step&they figured it out themselves. @LizBHolder @ldilworth1

The importance of collecting ongoing data w/ formative assessments. We were keeping our eye out on these students,taught them algebra with algebra tiles &were able to move them forward. Still have more work to do but happy to see these students succeed.🤩 @ldilworth1 @LizBHolder

Gr. 4/5s @TDSB Flemington PS practised equipartitioning a length w/ the Unit #Fractions Paper Strips task. This hands-on activity was engaging and super fun for all students & a great assessment opportunity for the teacher! @mervisalo @Jason_To @LizBHolder
