To add context for the importance of these elections: cash is still largely unavailable throughout the country, fuel scarcity persists and prices are more than double what they were 2 months ago. Unemployment is at a staggering 37%. The stakes are high.

6. On the ground now, the concern is that similar vote rigging will occur in state elections on March 11. It’s unclear how to ensure elections will be safe, free, and fair.
