@AlfieJCH True! She did herself no favours in the eyes of the public the way she came across during debates and interviews on the issue. If I was Burnham I’d want a clean slate in justice
@Peston Shabana Mahmood does not present as someone who sits back and will just execute someone else’s will. Good luck to Andy Burnham if he thinks he can win back voters Labour have lost to the Greens and Lib Dems with a Chancellor whose immigration policies out-Toried the Tories
@ZackPolanski@DNA23Brugmansia Landlords/Agencies wanting a renter to earn 3 x annual rent is completely unobtainable for someone living in London earning an average wage. You’re looking at needing to earn circa £60,000 PA to be eligible to rent a one bed flat
Interesting how the idea of a wealth tax seems to perturb well paid TV presenters, claiming it worries people, but they seem to have no issue pushing for cutting welfare #GMB
@kitty_donaldson Let’s make the person whose immigration policies out-Toried the Tories Chancellor and give a plum role to the one who has done nothing to stop doctors from being replaced by lesser qualified staff .
Why would anyone vote Labour!
Anyone old enough to remember Labour ministers telling us McSweeney won the election for them? Chris Bryant on #TrevorPhillips acknowledging they won because people wanted change. Maybe they should have listened to us and not out-Toried the Tories with cuts/cruel policies
‘Never married’. ‘Didn’t have children’. ‘Old maid’. ‘Spinster’.
A woman’s worth should never be linked to a man nor to whether or not she has procreated
@MagnaAulae Absolutely! To be fair, I should have put that part in my original post.
I think there is a preconception that you cannot be educated and have good communication skills yet still be very unwell or disabled
For those who thinks claiming PIP is easy, this is pretty much how it goes
Claimant X disabled by car accident
PIP assessor - Xwent to university (before accident)
Consultant letter - pain levels such that they constitute a severe disability
PA - does not appear to be in pain
@MagnaAulae X did indeed sustain a head injury & had a report from their neurologist. They detailed how their cognition had been impacted. Assessor used fact they had a degree to justify why they couldn’t have issues with cognition, even though degree was obtained years before the accident
How many of us 80s kids danced around our bedrooms, singing along to Bonnie Tyler on the radio or a compilation tape? She’s leaves an incredible legacy
Kate Garraway coming down hard on the need for welfare cuts which apparently we all want, no, that’s what the media want us to want, with the argument that a degenerative condition might get better.
Degenerative - to deteriorate, decline, change to a worse state or condition
The Conservatives decimated the justice system. David Lammy’s plans will make things worse and he’s demonstrating that with every answer that he gives on the subject #pmqs
There are many people who couldn’t have children who would have given everything to be parents. King Charles is not painting himself in a good light here
@Helen_Barnard@ayaz_manji@LucyJLBannister Can I ask why they have made recommendations regarding right to try in relation to PIP when PIP can be awarded regardless of whether you work or not?
TV presenters/commentators talking about how hard having one hours sleep is need to do that for 2 weeks straight then might have some idea what living with unrelenting chronic illness is like and perhaps not call for so many welfare cuts!
Portes "Theres a lot of nonsense talked, including on Sky, about the spiralling welfare bill.. as a proportion of our national income.. its lower than it was 15yrs ago & its pretty much back to what it was under Thatcher.. this idea its out of control is just wrong"
Spot on!
