今年の合田研からの11本目の論文は、Nature Biomedical Engineering誌に掲載された画期的な発見に関してです！平たく言うと、「似た者同士の細胞がお互いを強く認識しあう方法を工学的に開発した」という内容です。一件地味に聞こえるかもしれませんが、応用の範囲は非常に広いです。

以下、詳しい説明です：細胞が分泌するナノ粒子「細胞外小胞（エクソソーム）」の表面を希土類（ランタノイド）イオンで工学的に修飾することにより、同じ種類の細胞とエクソソームが選択的に結合する性質「同種標的化」を25倍以上に増強する技術を開発しました。この技術により、多種多様のエクソソームが混在する試料の中から、目的の細胞に由来するエクソソームだけを高選択的に捕捉する「超同種標的化」法を確立しました。本研究で臨床実証したトリプルネガティブ乳がんの超高感度キッドバイオプシーへの応用に加え、ドラッグデリバリー、組織工学、抗老化治療への展開が期待されます。
